Vodafone Qatar helps to raise over QR500,000 for QC’s work in Mali

DOHA: Vodafone Qatar has helped to raise more than QR500,000 for Qatar Charity’s work to build a community centre in Mali.

Vodafone Qatar’s employees Ali Al Qahtani, Fahad Al Sayed and Mohammed Al Yafei were instrumental in raising these funds via their participation in Qatar Charity’s volunteering initiative, Al Mutanafisoon (The Competitors).

Now in its second edition, the competition asks two teams from different organisations to compete to raise the most funds by promoting Qatar Charity’s humanitarian work on Qatar Radio. The competing teams then travel to the country where the raised funds will be used to further encourage members of the public to donate.

There, the competitors are able to capture the benefits of the selected charitable project and post their experiences on social media.

Mohammed Al Yami, External Affairs Director, Vodafone Qatar, said, “We’re honoured to have contributed to raising funds for Qatar Charity’s noble humanitarian work. We’re also very proud of our exemplary Qatari employees who passionately campaigned to ensure enough funds would be raised to build the community centre in Mali.

Empowering employees to do good and supporting charity initiatives is one of our core beliefs at Vodafone and we hope there will be more opportunities in the future for our employees to work with Qatar Charity.”

This comes in a long line of Vodafone employee volunteering under the Company’s employee volunteering programme “Kafu”. Vodafone globally encourages its employees to volunteer by giving them fully paid leave on the days they conduct charitable work.

ساهمت “فودافون قطر” في جمع أكثر من 500 ألف ريال قطري سيتم تخصيصها لدعم جمعية “قطر الخيرية” من أجل بناء مركز متعدد الخدمات للمحتاجين في مالي.

ولعب موظفو “فودافون قطر”، علي القحطاني وفهد السيد ومحمد اليافعي، دوراً محورياً في جمع هذا المبلغ من خلال مشاركتهم في مبادرة “قطر الخيرية” التطوعية، مسابقة “المتنافسون”.

وتتطلب المسابقة، التي تقام للمرة الثانية، تنافس فريقين من مؤسستين مختلفتين لجمع أكبر مبلغ مالي ممكن عبر الترويج للمبادرات الإنسانية التي تنظمها “قطر الخيرية” على “إذاعة قطر”. وينتقل الفريقان بعدها إلى البلد المنشود، حيث يتم استخدام الأموال التي تم جمعها لتشجيع العامة على التبرع أيضاً. وهناك، يمكن للمتنافسين التقاط صور تجسد مزايا المشروع الخيري المختار، ومشاركة تجاربهم عبر وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي.
