Congestion returns to Doha streets for first time since pandemic

Doha: On Tuesday, a number of streets in Doha witnessed traffic jams on a number of major roads for the first time since the Corona pandemic and the gradual return to normalcy of life.
The General Traffic Administration commented on the congestion, referring it to a major traffic accident on February 22nd road.
Colonel Mohammed Radhi al-Hajri, director of the Traffic Awareness Department, said that today there was traffic congestion or overcrowding caused by an accident on the February 22nd road that involved more than one car and there were no serious injuries or deaths.
In an interview with Qatar Radio, Colonel Al Hajri added that traffic congestion is expected and traffic patrols are widespread and are making a double effort to de-crowd.
The General Traffic Administration said on its official Twitter account that following the guidelines of patrols and traffic during peak hours contributes to the smooth flow of vehicle traffic.
The Public Works Authority “Ashghal” said traffic congestion occurred on February 22nd Road as a result of more than one vehicle colliding Tuesday morning with no injuries.
In a tweet on its Twitter account, “Ashghal” called on motorists to comply with traffic laws.
For their part, a number of Twitter users felt that heavy traffic congestion for the first time since the Covid-19 pandemic was expected, noting that the pandemic and the commitment of some to homes was easing the daily pressure on the streets.
The tweeters demanded that the electronic transformation during the pandemic be used, especially for the education sector, and to reduce school hours to ease congestion.

الدوحة: شهدت عدد من شوارع العاصمة الدوحة، يوم الثلاثاء، ازدحاماً مرورياً في عدد من الطرق الرئيسية لأول مرة منذ جائحة كورونا وعودة الحياة تدريجياً إلى طبيعتها .
وعلقت الإدارة العامة للمرور على هذا الازدحام، مرجعة سببه إلى حادث مروري كبير في طريق 22 فبراير .
وقال العقيد محمد راضي الهاجري مدير إدارة التوعية المرورية إن اليوم شهد ازدحام أو اختناق مروري سببه حادث في طريق 22 فبراير لأكثر من سيارة ولا وجود إصابات بليغة أو وفيات.
وأضاف العقيد الهاجري – في مداخلة مع إذاعة قطر – أن الازدحام المروري متوقع والدوريات المروية منتشرة وهي تؤدي جهداً مضاعفاً لفك هذا الازدحام.
وقالت الإدارة العامة للمرور – على حسابها الرسمي بموقع تويتر – إن اتباع إرشادات الدوريات ورجال المرور خلال ساعات الذروة يساهم في إنسياب حركة المركبات.
من جانبها، أفادت هيئة الأشغال العامة بأن ازدحاماً مرورياً وقع على طريق 22 فبراير نتيجة تصادم اكثر من مركبة صباح الثلاثاء مع عدم حدوث إصابات.
وأهابت الهيئة في تغريدة على حسابها بموقع تويتر بقائدي المركبات الإلتزام بالقوانين المرورية .
من جانبهم، رأى عدد من مستخدمي تويتر أن الازدحام المروري الشديد لأول مرة منذ جائحة كوفيد – 19 كان متوقعاً، مشيرين إلى أن الجائحة والتزام البعض بالمنازل كان يخفف من على الضغط اليومي على الشوارع .
وطالب المغردون بالاستفادة من التحول الإلكتروني خلال الجائحة وخاصة لقطاع التعليم والتخفيف من الدوام المدرسي لتخفيف الازدحام.
