Doha: Al-Watan newspaper, published Friday, affirmed that HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani’s honoring of the athletes who achieved global and Olympic achievements is the greatest motivation for them to prepare and achieve the best results.
In this context, the newspaper stated that HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani granted the champion Abdulrahman Abdulqadir Al Wajbah Decoration in recognition of his achievement by winning the bronze medal at the men’s shot put competitions at Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.
HH the Amir congratulated the champion and members of the Paralympic mission of Team Qatar (Al-Adaam) on the results they achieved during their participation in Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, wishing them more sport achievements, the newspaper said.
The newspaper stated that during a meeting with HH at the Amiri Diwan on Thursday morning, the members of Team Qatar expressed their thanks and gratitude to HH the Amir for HH’s care and support for sports in Qatar, and affirmed their keenness to work towards achieving more accomplishments in international sports championships. It noted that the meeting was attended by HE President of the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani.
Al-Watan enumerated the achievements of Abdulrahman Abdulqadir, as he is considered the first Qatari player to achieve a Paralympic medal in Qatar’s history. He achieved the silver medal in the shot put competitions at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games. The athlete also nabbed the gold medal at the 2017 IAAF World Championships in London, as well as the 2014 Incheon Asian Games.
The newspaper quoted Al-Adaam’s hero Abdulrahman Abdulqadir as saying that it is a great honor to win a new medal for the State of Qatar, which has always supported its players in all games, stressing that he made a great effort to be able to win a medal.
The newspaper concluded that despite fierce competition, our player Abdulrahman Abdulqadir managed to win the bronze medal by throwing the shot put, although he was suffering from an injury.

الدوحة: أكدت صحيفة /الوطن/ الصادرة اليوم أن تكريم حضرة صاحب السمو الشيخ تميم بن حمد آل ثاني أمير البلاد المفدى للأبطال الرياضيين الذين حققوا إنجازات عالمية وأولمبية، يعد أكبر دافع لهم من أجل مزيد من الاستعداد وتحقيق أفضل النتائج، ورفع اسم قطر عاليا في المحافل الدولية.
وفي هذا الصدد قالت الصحيفة: “منح سمو أمير البلاد المفدى، وسام الوجبة للبطل عبدالرحمن عبدالقادر، تقديرا لما حققه من إنجاز في دورة الألعاب البارالمبية /طوكيو 2020/، بحصوله على الميدالية البرونزية في منافسات رمي الجلة.. وهنأ سمو الأمير المفدى البطل وأعضاء البعثة البارالمبية لفريق قطر /الأدعم/ على النتائج التي حققوها خلال مشاركتهم في دورة الألعاب البارالمبية /طوكيو 2020/، متمنيا لهم مزيدا من الإنجازات الرياضية”.
وأوضحت أن أعضاء البعثة عبروا عن شكرهم وامتنانهم لسمو أمير البلاد المفدى على ما يوليه من عناية ودعم للرياضة في قطر، مؤكدين حرصهم على العمل نحو تحقيق المزيد من الإنجازات المستقبلية في البطولات الرياضية العالمية، وذلك خلال استقبال سموه لهم في الديوان الأميري أمس، منوهة إلى أن الاستقبال حضره سعادة الشيخ جوعان بن حمد آل ثاني، رئيس اللجنة الأولمبية القطرية.
وعدّدت /الوطن، إنجازات البطل عبدالرحمن عبدالقادر، إذ يعتبر أول لاعب قطري يحقق ميدالية بارالمبية في تاريخ قطر، حيث حقق الميدالية الفضية في رمي الجلة في ألعاب /ريو 2016/.. وفاز أيضا بالميدالية الذهبية في رمي الجلة في بطولة العالم لألعاب القوى لذوي الاحتياجات الخاصة التي استضافتها لندن في 2017، بالإضافة إلى ذهبية دورة الألعاب الآسيوية /إنشون 2014/، مشيرة إلى أن بطل الأدعم عبدالرحمن عبدالقادر قال عقب تتويجه بالميدالية البرونزية: إنه لشرف كبير أن أحظى بميدالية جديدة لدولة قطر التي لطالما تدعم لاعبيها في كافة الألعاب، مؤكدا أنه بذل جهدا كبيرا لكي يتمكن من حصد ميدالية.
وقالت الصحيفة إنه “رغم قوة المنافسة في الدورة الأخيرة تمكن لاعبنا عبدالرحمن عبدالقادر من حصد برونزية رمي الجلة، رغم أنه كان يعاني من الإصابة إلا أنها لم تمنعه من الفوز بالبرونزية واعتلاء منصة التتويج.
