US Wants to Resume Nuclear Negotiations with Iran

Washington: The US State Department revealed its desire to resume nuclear negotiations with Iran “soon”, in response to Iranian statements regarding a return to the Vienna talks.
“We have heard similar statements from the Iranian Government at various levels over the past couple weeks. If you recall, we were talking about this in New York, which seems like it was just last week, a couple weeks ago now. And we have heard from the Iranians that they expect negotiations to resume soon. We hope their definition of soon matches our definition of soon. We would like negotiations to resume in Vienna as soon as possible,” State Department spokesman Ned Price said in a press conference.
“We think it is important for the parties to come back together, to continue, to resume where we left off in Vienna after the sixth round so that we can resume this seventh round on the basis of what we have accomplished to date. We think it is important for a number of reasons, but also because, as we have made very clear, we continue to believe the diplomatic path is open. We continue to believe that a diplomatic approach is the best means to verifiably once again ensure that Iran can never obtain a nuclear weapon with the permanent and verifiable restrictions that the JCPOA put in place.”
Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian had said in Moscow that he expected to resume negotiations on his country’s nuclear agreement in Vienna “soon.”
The Vienna talks have been suspended since June.

واشنطن: كشفت وزارة الخارجية الأمريكية عن رغبتها في استئناف المفاوضات بشأن الملف النووي الإيراني “قريبا”، وذلك ردا على التصريحات الايرانية المتعلقة بالعودة إلى محادثات فيينا.
وقال المتحدث باسم الخارجية الأمريكية نيد برايس، في مؤتمر صحفي، “لقد سمعنا من مسؤولي الحكومة الإيرانية وعلى عدة مستويات عدة مواقف خلال الأسابيع الماضية تقول إننا نتوقع استئناف المفاوضات قريباً، ونحن نرغب في استئناف المحادثات في فيينا في أقرب وقت ممكن ونقول ذلك منذ شهور. ونرى أنه من الأهمية بمكان أن تعود الأطراف إلى الاجتماع في فيينا لمتابعة المحادثات من حيث توقفنا”.
واشار إلى أن المسار الدبلوماسي ما زال مفتوحا قائلا “نعتقد أن العودة الفورية إلى فيينا ضرورية لأنه لا يمكن لهذه العملية أن تستمر إلى ما لا نهاية”.
وكان وزير الخارجية الإيراني، حسين أمير عبداللهيان، قد قال من موسكو إنه يتوقع استئناف المفاوضات بشأن اتفاق بلاده النووي في فيينا “قريبا”.
وكانت محادثات فيينا قد توقفت منذ يونيو الماضي.
