Qatar Amir, US President witness signing agreements & MoUs

Washington: Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and President of the United States of America Donald Trump discussed the strong bilateral strategic cooperation relations between the two countries and ways of promoting and enhancing them in various fields.

The meeting, which was held in the White House yesterday, also discussed the most important developments regionally and internationally.

At the outset of the meeting, the US President welcomed HH the Amir, praising the strong and excellent relations between the two friendly countries, and his personal relationship with HH the Amir.

The US President underlined that HH the Amir is a real leader who is highly respected in an important part of the world, hailing Qatar’s large investments in the United States and the huge agreements in the fields of trade, investment and defense.

The US President highlighted the role of Al Udeid Air Base and its strategic importance in the Middle East, tapping it as one of the biggest military bases in the world.

For his part, HH the Amir thanked the US President for the hospitality, and affirmed the strength of the relations between the two countries, pointing out to the agreements and memorandums of understanding which will be signed later in the framework of the economic partnership between Qatar and the United States.

HH the Amir noted in his statement the current large investments in the United States, especially in infrastructure. HH the Amir explained that the volume of trade exchange between the two countries now exceeds $185 billion, noting the desire to multiply this figure for his confidence in the US economy.

HH the Amir extended an invitation to the US President to visit the State of Qatar and Al Udeid Air Base, at the time that suits His Excellency.

The US President thanked HH the Amir for the invitation, and praised the achievements made by the State of Qatar in Al Udeid Air Base and its important strategic central location in the Middle East.

During the luncheon banquet, HH the Amir and the US President discussed the strong bilateral strategic relations and means of developing them in all fields of interest to the two countries and in the benefit of the two friendly peoples.

The banquet was attended by Their Excellencies members of the official delegation accompanying HH the Amir. From the US side, the banquet was attended by US Vice President Mike Pence, and a number of Their Excellencies senior officials.

H H the Amir and the US President witnessed the signing of agreements and memoranda of understanding (MoUs) between the two countries, at the White House.

The two leaders witnessed the signing of an agreement between Qatar Petroleum and Chevron Phillips for the development of an international petrochemical complex in the Gulf Coast of the United States, and an agreement between Qatar Airways, and each of General Electric (GE) and Boeing for the purchase of five Boeing 777 cargo planes and Gulfstream Aviation .

They also witnessed the signing of an agreement in the field of air defense to provide the State of Qatar with multiple additional systems of air defense.

The signing ceremony was attended by Their Excellencies members of the official delegation accompanying HH the Amir. On the US side, it was attended by a number of Their Excellencies Ministers and senior officials.

شهد حضرة صاحب السمو الشيخ تميم بن حمد آل ثاني أمير البلاد المفدى، وفخامة الرئيس دونالد ترمب رئيس الولايات المتحدة الأميركية الصديقة، التوقيع على اتفاقيات ومذكرات تفاهم بين البلدين، بالبيت الأبيض أمس. فقد شهدا التوقيع على اتفاقية بين «قطر للبترول» وشركة «شيفرون فيليبس» للكيماويات الأميركية، لتطوير مجمع عالمي للبتروكيماويات في ساحل الخليج بالولايات المتحدة الأميركية؛ واتفاقية بين الخطوط الجوية القطرية وكل من «جنرال إلكتريك»، و«بوينج للشحن» لشراء خمس طائرات شحن جوي من طراز «بوينج 777»، وشركة «جلف ستريم» للطيران.

كما شهدا التوقيع على إعلان اتفاق في مجال الدفاع الجوي، بتزويد دولة قطر بأنظمة متعددة إضافية للدفاع الجوي.

حضر مراسم التوقيع أصحاب السعادة أعضاء الوفد الرسمي المرافق لسمو الأمير، ومن الجانب الأميركي حضرها عدد من أصحاب السعادة الوزراء وكبار المسؤولين.
