New Coronavirus Strain is “out of control”: British Health Secretary

Geneva – London: WHO has announced that it is in close contact with the UK about the emergence of a new strain of the coronavirus.
WHO tweeted: “We are in close contact with UK officials regarding the new strain of coronavirus. They will continue to share their information and the results of their analyses and studies. We will inform Member States and the public as soon as they learn more about the characteristics and implications of this strain.”
The organization urged individuals to continue to take all preventive measures to prevent the spread of the virus and to comply with the instructions of national authorities.
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced yesterday that a new closure would be imposed in London and parts of southern and eastern England due to concerns about the new strain of the Coronavirus.
He said he believes the new coronavirus strain is spreading rapidly in the region and is said to be more than 70% transferable.
British Health Secretary Matt Hancock said Sunday that the new strain of the Coronavirus was “out of control” to justify the reimposition of closures in London and parts of England, measures he said could continue until a vaccine is distributed.
“Unfortunately, the new strain is out of control,” Hancock told Sky News adding “We had to regain control of the situation and the only way to do that was to restrict social networking, It will be very difficult to keep it under control until a vaccine is distributed.”

جنيف و لندن: أعلنت منظمة الصحة العالمية أنها على اتصال وثيق مع المملكة المتحدة بشأن ظهور سلالة جديدة من فيروس كورونا بها.
وكتبت منظمة الصحة، على موقع تويتر، :”إننا على اتصال وثيق مع المسؤولين في المملكة المتحدة بشأن السلالة الجديدة من فيروس كورونا. وسيواصلون مشاركة معلومات ونتائج تحليلاتهم ودراساتهم. وسنقوم بإبلاغ الدول الأعضاء والجمهور بمجرد معرفة المزيد حول خصائص هذه السلالة والآثار المترتبة عليها”.
وحثت المنظمة الأفراد على مواصلة اتخاذ جميع التدابير الوقائية لمنع انتشار الفيروس والامتثال لتعليمات السلطات الوطنية.
وأعلن رئيس الوزراء البريطاني بوريس جونسون أمس أنه سيتم فرض إغلاق جديد في لندن وأجزاء من جنوب وشرق إنجلترا بسبب مخاوف متعلقة بالسلالة الجديدة لفيروس كورونا.
وقال إنه يُعتقد أن سلالة فيروس كورونا الجديدة تنتشر بشكل سريع في المنطقة، ويقال إنها قابلة للانتقال بنسبة تزيد على 70%.
ومن جانبه، قال وزير الصحة البريطاني مات هانكوك اليوم الأحد إن السلالة الجديدة من فيروس كورونا “خرجت عن السيطرة” لتبرير إعادة فرض الإغلاق في لندن وأجزاء من إنكلترا، وهي تدابير قال إنها قد تستمر حتى توزيع لقاح.
وصرح هانكوك لشبكة “سكاي نيوز” أنه “للأسف، السلالة الجديدة خارجة عن السيطرة. كان علينا استعادة السيطرة على الوضع والطريقة الوحيدة للقيام بذلك كانت تقييد التواصل الاجتماعي. سيكون من الصعب جدا إبقاؤها تحت السيطرة إلى حين أن يتم توزيع لقاح”.
