Qatar’s acquisition of US bonds jumps by 150%

Doha: Qatar’s possession of US Treasury bonds jumped in October 2020 by 150.8% year-on-year, according to a statement by the US Treasury.

Qatar’s possession of US Treasury bonds in October 2020 amounted to about $ 7.5243 billion, its highest level ever, compared to $ 3 billion in the same month of 2019.

On a monthly basis, Qatar’s investments in US Treasury bonds increased by 55.26% from their level in September 2020 of $ 4.85 billion.

According to Treasury Department data, Qatar’s acquisition of US Treasury bonds during the previous October all came from long-term bonds.

Since the beginning of this year, Qatar’s possession of US Treasury bonds has increased by about $ 2.44 billion, noting that it was about $5.09 billion at the end of 2019.

وبلغت حيازة قطر من سندات الخزانة الأمريكية في أكتوبر2020 نحو 7.5243 مليار دولار، وهو أعلى مستوى لها على الإطلاق، مقابل 3 مليارات دولار بالشهر ذاته من 2019.

وعلى أساس شهري، ارتفعت استثمارات قطر في سندات الخزانة الأمريكية بنسبة 55.26% عن مستواها في سبتمبر 2020 البالغ 4.85 مليار دولار.

وطبقاً لبيانات وزارة الخزانة، فقد جاءت حيازة قطر من سندات الخزانة الأمريكية خلال أكتوبر السابق جميعها من السندات طويلة الأجل.

ومنذ بداية العام الجاري، زادت حيازة قطر من سندات الخزانة الأمريكية بنحو 2.44 مليار دولار، علماً بأنها كانت تبلغ نهاية 2019 نحو 5.09 مليار دولار.
