Unauthorized graffiti.. A misbehavior that awaits deterring

Doha: While the Supervisory Committee of Beautification of Roads and Public Places in the country encourages Qatari and resident artists to draw graffiti on the walls of buildings, houses, gardens and bridges, some young people write and draw on the walls of buildings in parks and streets in a way that distorts the aesthetic landscape of residential areas.
Stopping this misbehavior calls for activating the law to deter violators, and for the concerned authorities to carry out awareness campaigns directed at middle and secondary school students, warning them against distorting the walls of buildings with writings and drawings, and informing them of the laws and penalties that warn against doing this act, especially after their recent clear increase in some main streets and residential neighborhoods.
The Public Works Authority “Ashghal” has been cooperating for years with Qatari and resident artists to put their touches on projects to develop and beautify residential areas, tourist places, streets and tunnels, with the aim of raising their aesthetic value and transforming them into tourist attractions and enriching cities and roads with distinctive aesthetic appearances, as well as promoting artistic culture in the community, and highlighting the Qatari identity in the field of art and sculpture, by employing artistic creativity and innovative production of Qatari talents and the talents of residents in Qatar.
The Supervisory Committee for the beautification of roads and public places in the country works in coordination with several ministries and government agencies in the country. as the committee’s work includes five main tasks, such as building central public parks, providing special paths for pedestrians and bicycles, developing the Doha Corniche, developing the central Doha area in addition to afforestation and increasing green landscapes.
The committee is working to revive the elements of the Qatari urban character in some streets, internal roads, vital places, residential areas, and open squares, which gives an aesthetic, civilized and cultural characteristic. The committee is also working to encourage partnership with local artists to add an artistic imprint to these places. The Stereoscopic and Artistic Works Committee was formed within the Supervisory Committee of Beautification of Roads and Public Places in the country.

الدوحة: في الوقت الذي تقومُ فيه لجنةُ الإشراف على تجميل الطرق والأماكن العامّة بالدولة بتشجيع الفنانين القطريين والمُقيمين بعمل رسومات جرافيتي على جدران المباني والمنازل والحدائق والجسور، يقومُ بعض اليافعين بالكتابة والرسم على جدران المباني بالفرجان والشوارع بطريقة تُشوّه المشهد الجمالي للمناطق السكنيّة.
ويستدعي وقف تلك الظاهرة تفعيل القانون لردع المُخالفين، وقيام الجهات المعنية بحملات توعية موجهة لطلبة المدارس الإعدادية والثانوية وتحذيرهم من تشويه جدران المباني بالكتابات والرسومات وتعريفهم بالقوانين والعقوبات التي تُحذر من القيام بهذا الفعل خاصة بعد زيادتها الواضحة مؤخرًا في بعض الشوارع الرئيسية والأحياء السكنيّة.
وتتعاونُ هيئة الأشغال العامة «أشغال» منذ سنوات مع الفنانين القطريين والمُقيمين لوضع لمساتهم في مشروعات تطوير وتجميل المناطق السكنية والأماكن السياحية والشوارع والأنفاق، بهدف رفع قيمتها الجمالية وتحويلها إلى مناطق جذب سياحية ولثراء المدن والطرق بمظاهر جمالية مميزة، فضلًا عن تعزيز الثقافة الفنية لدى المُجتمع، وإبراز الهُوية القطرية في مجال الفن والنحت، من خلال توظيف الإبداع الفني والإنتاج الابتكاري للمواهب القطرية ومواهب المُقيمين في قطر.
وتعملُ لجنةُ الإشراف على تجميل الطرق والأماكن العامة بالدولة بالتنسيق مع عدة وزارات وهيئات حكومية بالدولة، حيث تتضمن أعمال اللجنة خمس مهام رئيسية تشمل بناء حدائق عامة مركزية، وتوفير مسارات خاصة للمشاة والدراجات الهوائية، وتطوير كورنيش الدوحة، وتطوير منطقة الدوحة المركزية بالإضافة إلى أعمال التشجير وزيادة المُسطحات الخضراء.
وتعملُ اللجنةُ على إعادة إحياء عناصر الطابع العمراني القطري في بعض الشوارع والطرق الداخلية والأماكن الحيوية والمناطق السكنية والساحات المفتوحة، ما يعطي سمة جمالية وحضارية وثقافية، كما تعملُ اللجنة أيضًا على تشجيع الشراكة مع الفنانين المحليين لإضافة بصمة فنيه لهذه الأماكن. وتم تشكيل لجنة المُجسمات والأعمال الفنية ضمن لجنة الإشراف على تجميل الطرق والأماكن العامّة بالدولة.
