4 different fonts used in the new currencies

Doha: The international calligrapher Ubaida Saleh Al-Banki, the calligrapher of Mushaf Qatar and the calligrapher of the fifth edition of the Qatari currency, expressed his happiness in writing the new Qatari paper currency fonts, indicating that his contribution to the new issuance of the currency is a new achievement that is added to his previous achievement of writing Mushaf Qatar.

Al-Banki said, in statements to Al-Raya, that he used 4 fonts in writing the new currency, namely Al Thuluth, Al Muhaqqaq, Tawqi and Al Naskh, indicating that he chose the Thuluth script, for example, as it is the mother of fonts and indicates modesty and dignity, while the Muhaqqaq script is considered one of the most beautiful scripts, which is a script characterized by sobriety in which the letters do not overlap and is written in a single rhythm. In the past, it was considered a scale for the rest of the fonts and their origin.

He added that the Tawqi font was used to write the conclusion of books and other notes, while the Naskh script was one of the quick fonts in which books and Qur’an were written.

He pointed out that all the fonts used in the new Qatari currency are beautiful, in addition to the ease and clarity of reading, noting that the font used in the currently circulating currency is the Diwani font and it was one of the state secrets in ancient times and its symbols were known only to the Diwani calligraphers. The general public couldn’t read it until the font was deciphered in the modern era.

With regard to the phrase “Qatar Central Bank” written on the new currencies, he said that it was written in Al Thuluth font, while the denominations of the currencies were written in Al Muhaqqaq script, and the phrase “a banknote with guaranteed value” was written in the Tawqi font and the phrase “Governor of Qatar Bank” was written in Al Naskh font. For the phrase “Minister of Finance.” he explained that these scripts and phrases are repeated in all denominations of the Qatari currency, including the new denomination of 200 riyals.

He revealed a new project to write the Qur’an in several fonts for an undisclosed party in Qatar.

الدوحة: عبر الخطاط العالمي عبيدة صالح البنكي خطاط مصحف قطر وخطاط الاصدار الخامس من العملة القطرية عن سعادته بكتابة خطوط العملة الورقية القطرية الجديدة .. مشيرا الى أن مساهمته في الاصدار الجديد للعملة انجاز جديد يضاف لانجازه السابق المتمثل في كتابة مصحف قطر.

وقال البنكي، في تصريحات لـ الراية، انه استخدم في كتابة العملة الجديدة 4 خطوط، هي الثلث والمحقق والإجازة والنسخ .. مشيرا الى أنه اختار خط الثلث على سبيل المثال باعتباره أم الخطوط ويدل على الاحتشام والوقار، بينما يعتبر الخط المحقق من أجمل الخطوط وهو خط يتسم بالرزانة وهو غير متداخل الحروف ويكتب على ايقاع واحد وكان قديما يعتبر مقياسا لبقية الخطوط ونشأتها.

وأضاف أن خط الإجازة كان يكتب به ختام الكتب وتدوينة الملاحظات الأخرى بها، بينما خط النسخ فكان من الخطوط السريعة الذي تكتب به الكتب والمصاحف.

واشار الى أن جميع الخطوط التي تمت كتابة العملة القطرية الجديدة بها تتسم بالجمال، علاوة على السهولة والوضوح في القراءة .. منوها بأن الخط المستخدم في العملة المتداولة حاليا هو خط الديوان وكان من أسرار الدولة في العصور القديمة ولم يكن يعرف رموزه سوى خطاطي الديوان ولم يكن بمقدور عامة الناس قراءته إلى أن تم فك رموز هذا الخط في العصر الحديث.

وفيما يتعلق بعبارة “مصرف قطر المركزي” المدونة على العملات الجديدة، قال انه تم كتابتها بخط الثلث، بينما تم كتابة فئات العملات بخط المحقق، وتم كتابة عبارة “ورقة نقدية مضمونة القيمة” بخط الاجازة وعبارة “حاكم مصرف قطر” بخط النسخ وكذلك الحال بالنسبة لعبارة “وزير المالية”. وأوضح ان هذه الخطوط والعبارات مكررة في جميع فئات العملة القطرية بما فيها الفئة الجديدة الـ 200 ريال.

وكشف عن مشروع جديد لكتابة المصحف بعدة خطوط لصالح احدى الجهات في قطر.
