Katara to Launch First Edition of International Arabian Horse Festival in February

Doha: The Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) has signed a cooperation agreement with the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club (QREC) to host the first edition of Katara’s International Arabian Horse Festival, which will be held from February 2-6, 2021 at Katara Beach.

In remarks, General Manager of Katara and head of the festival organizing committee Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti saidthat the State of Qatar has a heritage in equestrian sports, in addition to the love and appreciation of Qataris for this sport since ancient times and their interest in the ancient Arab breeds of horses, which shows that the idea of this festival is mainly inspired by a large cultural and historical memory of the Qatari society. He also explained that Katara has always organized and presented major international festivals and exhibitions that symbolize the originality of the Qatari heritage which promotes a culture of modernization, in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.

He explained that what distinguishes this festival, which is scheduled to be held every year, is the holding of the championship title for purebred Arabian horses of the most prestigious international level, stressing that only the best international horse breeds will be eligible to participate in this festival which is scheduled to lead in the future the most important equestrian festivals in the world, especially as the value of the financial prizes will reach 13 million Qatari riyals.

“The hosting of this tournament in Katara reflects our endeavor to be present with our public in all forums,” Dr Al Sulaiti said, hoping that the Qatar International Arabian Horse Championship will be a global event that attracts all those interested in the horse and equestrian world.

It should be noted that the competitions for the title include the following categories: the horse category of one year, the young horse category (2 to 3 years), the horse category (4 to 6 years), the older horse category (7 to 10 years) and the horse category (11 years).

الدوحة: أعلنت المؤسسة العامة للحي الثقافي /كتارا/، بالتعاون مع الاتحاد القطري للفروسية ونادي السباق والفروسية، عن اطلاق النسخة الأولى من مهرجان كتارا الدولي للخيل العربية، الذي سيقام على شاطئ المؤسسة من الثاني وحتى السادس من شهر فبراير المقبل.

وبهذه المناسبة، قال الدكتور خالد بن إبراهيم السليطي، المدير العام لمؤسسة /كتارا/ ورئيس اللجنة المنظمة للمهرجان، في تصريحات، إن” دولة قطر تتمتع بإرث واسع وأصيل في رياضة الفروسية، بالإضافة إلى حب وتقدير القطريين لهذه الرياضة منذ القدم واهتمامهم بالسلالات العريقة للخيل العربية..وهو ما يبين أن فكرة هذا المهرجان مستوحاة بالأساس من مخزون ثقافي وتاريخي كبير للمجتمع القطري”، مضيفا أن “مؤسسة /كتارا/ أخذت على عاتقها مسؤولية الاهتمام بهذا المورث والحب للخيل العربية وإبرازه عالميا، وهو ما يندرج ضمن سعيها المتواصل والحثيث إلى المراوحة بين ثنائية التراث والأصالة من ناحية، وتعزيز ثقافة التحديث من ناحية أخرى، بما يتماشى مع رؤية قطر2030”.

وأوضح أن ما يميز هذا المهرجان، الذي من المقرر أن يقام بصفة دورية كل عام، إقامة بطولة /تايتل شو/ للخيل العربية الأصيلة ذات المستوى العالمي المرموق، مشددا على أن أفضل سلالات الخيل العالمية فقط هي التي ستكون مؤهلة للمشاركة في هذا المهرجان الذي من المبرمج أن يتصدر مستقبلا أهم مهرجانات الفروسية في العالم، خاصة أن قيمة جوائزه المالية ستبلغ 13 مليون ريال قطري.

وذكر السليطي، في السياق ذاته، أن المهرجان سيحتوي على العديد من الأنشطة والفعاليات الثقافية والتعليمية ذات الصلة، والتي ستعكس الروح الوطنية والتقاليد القطرية العريقة، بما من شأنه أن يساهم في الحفاظ على التراث الغني للدولة في رياضة الفروسية، بالإضافة إلى تعزيز مكانة سلالة الخيل العربية الأصيلة محليا، وإقليميا، ودوليا.

تجدر الإشارة إلى أن المسابقات الخاصة بـ /تايتل شو/ تتضمن الفئات التالية هي: فئة الخيل من عمر السنة، وفئة الخيل الصغيرة (من 2 إلى 3 سنوات)، وفئة الخيل (من 4 إلى 6 سنوات)، وفئة الخيل الأكبر سنا ( من 7 إلى 10 سنوات)، وفئة الخيل (11 سنة).
