Time magazine: Biden and Kamala Harris “Person of the Year” in 2020

Doha: Time magazine named US President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris as their “Person of the Year” for 2020.
The magazine chose them late, last Thursday evening (local time) from a list of finalists that included President Donald Trump, according to Reuters.
The election of the former vice president and his candidacy mate, a California senator, broke the gender and race barrier, Time magazine said in a profile of Biden and Harris posted on its website with the announcement of their victory.
“America bought what they were selling: after the highest turnout (of voters) in a century, they won 81 million votes, which is the largest number of votes in the history of the presidential election, and (Biden) outperformed Trump by about 7 million votes.

وقالت تايم في لمحة عن بايدن وهاريس نشرتها على موقعها الإلكتروني مع الإعلان عن فوزهما، إن انتخاب نائب الرئيس السابق ورفيقته في الترشح، وهي سيناتور عن ولاية كاليفورنيا، كسر حاجز النوع الاجتماعي والعرق.
وأضافت “أمريكا اشترت ما كانا يبيعانه: فبعد أعلى نسبة مشاركة (للناخبين) في قرن من الزمان، حصدا ما يصل إلى 81 مليون صوت، وهو أكبر عدد أصوات في تاريخ انتخابات الرئاسة، وتفوق (بايدن) على ترامب بنحو سبعة ملايين صوت”.
