WHO sends message to people afraid of Pfizer’s vaccine

Doha: The US Secretary of Health and Human Services Alex Azar said yesterday, Friday, that the United States will approve the use of the Pfizer vaccine for protection against Covid-19 within days, and the first group will be vaccinated, possibly on Monday or Tuesday.
The US Secretary added – in statements to ABC TV, according to Reuters – that the US Food and Drug Administration has informed the company that it intends to move forward towards licensing its product.
He added that the US administration will also work with the company to ship the vaccine.
The US Food and Drug Administration said, via its Twitter account, that it is working to accelerate the issuance of emergency use permission for the Pfizer – BioNTech vaccine, so that the US authorities can implement the plans for distributing vaccines and vaccinations in a timely manner.
The director of The US Food and Drug Administration, Dr. Peter Marks, confirmed that the American Centers for Disease Control and Prevention alongside officials, were informed in order to prepare for the vaccination campaign against Coronavirus.
Marks added that the US Food and Drug Administration has a public health responsibility by ensuring the safety, efficacy and security of human and veterinary medicines, vaccines, and other biological products for human use and medical devices.
People concerned about the vaccine
and about those who are afraid of the Coronavirus vaccine, the World Health Organization said that reviewing any side effects of the Covid-19 vaccines is left to the national authorities in the countries concerned, in response to questions related to Britain’s warning and its request to those with a history of anaphylaxis to avoid the Pfizer – BioNTech vaccine shots.
“But people should not be concerned more than necessary. Bear in mind that there are a number of candidate vaccines coming on the way at the same time,” said Margaret Harris, a spokeswoman for the World Health Organization – in a press briefing in Geneva, according to Reuters.
“One of the vaccines may not be suitable for certain individuals, but you may find another suitable vaccine,” she added.
On Tuesday, Britain became the first country to introduce the Pfizer- BioNTech vaccine.
Drug Regulatory Authority said at a later time that anyone with a history of anaphylaxis to a drug or food should not be injected with the vaccine, after two cases suffered from side effects were reported.
a committee of advisers from outside the US Food and Drug Administration overwhelmingly supported the emergency use of the vaccine on Thursday, while paving the way for its use in a country where Covid-19 has claimed the lives of more than 285,000 people.
Harris said the World Health Organization is reviewing phase-3 trial data for many of the candidate COVID-19 vaccines.
She also added that the organization has not yet authorized the emergency use of any vaccine, but “the main thing that we keep in mind is safety”.

وتابع أن الإدارة الأمريكية ستعمل أيضا مع الشركة لشحن اللقاح.
وكانت هيئة الغذاء والدواء الأمريكية قد قالت، اليوم عبر حسابها على موقع تويتر، إنها تعمل على تسريع إصدار إذن الاستخدام الطارئ للقاح فايزر- بيونتك، حتى تتمكن السلطات الأمريكية من تنفيذ خطط توزيع اللقاحات والتطعيمات في الوقت المناسب.
وأكد مدير الهيئة الدكتور بيتر ماركس، أنه تم إبلاغ المراكز الأمريكية لمكافحة الأمراض والوقاية منها، والمسؤولين من أجل الاستعداد لحملة التطعيمات ضد كورونا.
وأضاف ماركس أن هيئة الغذاء والدواء الأمريكية، تتحمل مسؤولية الصحة العامة من خلال ضمان سلامة وفعالية وأمن الأدوية البشرية والبيطرية واللقاحات والمنتجات البيولوجية الأخرى للاستخدام البشري والأجهزة الطبية.
المتخوفون من اللقاح
وبشأن المتخوفين من لقاح كورونا، قالت منظمة الصحة العالمية إن مراجعة أي أعراض جانبية للقاحات كوفيد-19 متروكة للسلطات الوطنية في الدول المعنية، وذلك في معرض ردها على أسئلة تتعلق بتحذير بريطانيا ومطالبتها لمن لديهم تاريخ مرضي في فرط الحساسية بتجنب الحقن بلقاح فايزر-بيونتيك.
وقالت مارجريت هاريس المتحدثة باسم منظمة الصحة العالمية – في إفادة صحفية في جنيف بحسب رويترز- “لكن يتعين ألا يشعر الناس بالقلق أكثر مما يلزم. ضعوا في اعتباركم أن هناك عددا من اللقاحات المرشحة قادمة على الطريق في نفس الوقت”.
وأضافت “قد لا يكون أحد اللقاحات مناسبا لأفراد معينين، لكنك قد تجد لقاحا مناسبا آخر”.
وأصبحت بريطانيا يوم الثلاثاء، أول دولة تطرح لقاح فايزر- بيونتيك.
وقالت الهيئة المنظمة للدواء في وقت لاحق إن أي شخص لديه تاريخ مرضي بالحساسية المفرطة تجاه دواء أو طعام ينبغي عدم حقنه باللقاح، بعد الإبلاغ عن حالتين شهدتا آثارا جانبية.
وأيدت لجنة من المستشارين من خارج إدارة الأغذية والعقاقير الأمريكية أمس الخميس بأغلبية ساحقة الاستخدام الطارئ للقاح، فيما يمهد الطريق أمام السماح باستخدامه في دولة أودى كوفيد-19 بأرواح أكثر من 285 ألف شخص فيها.
وقالت هاريس إن منظمة الصحة العالمية تراجع بيانات تجارب المرحلة الثالثة لكثير من لقاحات كوفيد-19 المرشحة.
وأضافت أن المنظمة لم تجز حتى الآن الاستخدام الطارئ لأي لقاح، لكن “الشيء الأساسي الذي نضعه نصب أعيننا هو السلامة”.
