Qatar Museums’s ‘Marchitecture’ returns with 20 events

Qatar Museums (QM) has announced the return of ‘Marchitecture’ – a nationwide cultural showcase, which gives Culture Pass members exclusive access to some of Qatar’s iconic buildings and cultural sites.

The annual month-long event will offer public insight into the evolution of the country’s architecture, from historic sites to modern marvels, during the month of March.

The ‘Marchitecture’ initiative has been specially designed to give members of QM’s Culture Pass programme exclusive access to cultural experiences in a wide variety of locations. This year, over 20 events have been organised as part of ‘Marchitecture’ for Culture Pass members to enjoy.

Many private and public sector organisations have pledged their support for the programme, including Qatar Foundation, Qatar University, Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy, Msheireb Properties, l DAF, DGVE Limited, Atlas Bookstore and Sheraton Doha.

‘Marchitecture’ will give participants an opportunity to gain access to unique building, enjoy talks by renowned architects and take part in private tours.

Culture Pass members will have the options of touring many iconic sites and building in Qatar, including Al Zubarah Heritage; the new Msheireb development and its museums; the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy Pavillion; Fire Station; the Minaretein building (Education City Mosque), the ‘2015’ building (Qatar Foundation Headquarters) and Qatar National Library at Education City; the Museum of Islamic Art; Burj Doha; and Qatar University.

Making an inaugural appearance in ‘Marchitecture’, tours at Qatar Post, Sheraton Hotel Doha and Freiha Village Tour will also be available.

A series of public talks planned for the month of March include ‘The Past, Present, Future of Al-Zubarah’ planned as the opening talk, and ‘Transformation of National Museum of Qatar’.

Commenting on the development of ‘Marchitecture’, Qatar Museums’ Acting CEO, Ahmad Al Namla, said: “Under the guidance of our Chairperson, H E Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, ‘Marchitecture’ has become a testament to our ongoing commitment to enhancing and enriching the lives of all those who live in and visit the country.

As part of the popular Culture Pass membership scheme, ‘Marchitecture’ has become an excellent example of the types of initiatives Qatar Museums develops for all those who live in and visit Qatar.”

Sheikha Nouf Mubarak Saif Al Thani, Head of Partnerships at Qatar Museums, said: “Marchitecture was one of our most successful initiatives last year and was well received by audiences who wished to explore the rich architectural offerings in our country. We are very excited that this year’s edition will include the National Museum of Qatar — the latest addition to Qatar’s growing arts and culture scene.”

أعلنت متاحف قطر، عودة برنامجها الثقافي السنوي الموسوم بـ/مارس .. شهر العمارة/ الذي تتواصل فعالياته على مدار شهر مارس المقبل.

ويقدم البرنامج في عامه الثاني جولات حصرية لأعضاء برنامج “بطاقتك إلى الثقافة”، في عدد من أبرز المباني والمعالم الثقافية في قطر، مانحا إياهم نظرة عامة حول تطور الفن المعماري عبر زيارة العديد من المعالم التاريخية والعصرية المدهشة.

وصمم برنامج /مارس .. شهر العمارة/ ليعطي أعضاء برنامج “بطاقتك إلى الثقافة”، التابع لمتاحف قطر، تجارب ثقافية في العديد من المواقع المختلفة.

وتعتزم متاحف قطر هذا العام تنظيم أكثر من 20 جولة في إطار البرنامج بمشاركة العديد من مؤسسات القطاعين العام والخاص، وفي مقدمتها مؤسسة قطر، جامعة قطر، اللجنة العليا للمشاريع والإرث، مشيرب العقارية، l DAF، دي جي في إي ليمتد، مكتبة أطلس، وشيراتون الدوحة.

وسيمنح برنامج “شهر العمارة” فرصة أمام المشاركين لزيارة مبان فريدة وحضور محاضرات لمهندسين معماريين مرموقين والمشاركة في جولات خاصة.

فعلى صعيد الجولات، ستتاح الفرصة أمام أعضاء برنامج بطاقتك إلى الثقافة للتجول في العديد من أبرز المواقع والمباني في قطر ومن بينها منطقة الزبارة ومشروع مشيرب قلب الدوحة ومتاحف مشيرب وجناح الإرث باللجنة العليا للمشاريع والإرث ومطافئ: مقر الفنانين وذو المنارتين (جامع المدينة التعليمية) في مؤسسة قطر ومقر مؤسسة قطر الرئيسي المعروف باسم مبنى 2015 ومكتبة قطر الوطنية في المدينة التعليمية ومتحف الفن الإسلامي وبرج دوحة وجامعة قطر. كما تنضم وجهات جديدة للبرنامج هذا العام تشمل بريد قطر وفندق شيراتون الدوحة وقرية فريحة.

أما المحاضرات العامة، فتنظم متاحف قطر سلسلة من المحاضرات خلال شهر مارس تناقش موضوعات مختلفة من بينها محاضرة بعنوان “ماضي وحاضر ومستقبل الزبارة” وأخرى بعنوان “تحويل متحف قطر الوطني”.

وقال أحمد النملة، الرئيس التنفيذي بالوكالة لمتاحف قطر في تصريح اليوم، إن برنامج /مارس .. شهر العمارة/، الذي يتاح حصريا لأعضاء برنامج بطاقتك إلى الثقافة، أصبح دليلا على التزام متاحف قطر المتواصل بتعزيز وإثراء حياة جميع مواطني قطر وزائريها وصار خير مثال على نوعية المبادرات التي تطلقها متاحف قطر لتعزيز حياتهم.

بدورها، أوضحت الشيخة نوف مبارك سيف آل ثاني، مديرة الشراكات في متاحف قطر، أن برنامج /مارس .. شهر العمارة/ من أنجح البرامج التي تم إطلاقها العام الماضي، إذ تلقاه الجمهور بكل ترحاب، واستمتعوا خلاله باستكشاف المعالم المعمارية العديدة في بلادنا. منوهة إلى أنه سيضاف له في نسخة هذا العام معلم جديد، وهو متحف قطر الوطني الوافد الجديد على ساحتنا الفنية والثقافية التي يتواصل ازدهارها.

وكان للفنانة القطرية الصاعدة بثينة المفتاح، المعروفة بتوثيقها للذكريات الجماعية عبر رسومات الحبر، دور رئيسي في برنامج /مارس.. شهر العمارة/، حيث أبدعت تصاميم الهوية البصرية لأنشطة التعريف بالبرنامج العام الماضي.

وفي ضوء افتتاح متحف قطر الوطني يوم 28 مارس المقبل، سيتم تخصيص الجولة الأخيرة في برنامج /مارس .. شهر العمارة/ لزيارة المتحف الجديد. وسيتمكن أعضاء برنامج بطاقتك إلى الثقافة من التسجيل في جولة خاصة بالمتحف مع مهندسه المعماري جان نوفيل وأعضاء فريق متحف قطر الوطني الذين حولوا وردة الصحراء من فكرة إلى حقيقة.

ومن الجولات الجديدة والفريدة التي تضاف إلى برنامج هذا العام التجول في قرية فريحة، وهي قرية صغيرة مهجورة تقع في خليج ضحل، ويرجع تاريخها لمطلع القرن الثامن عشر وحتى منتصف القرن التاسع عشر. وتضم القرية حصنا وأسوارا دفاعية مرتفعة وأبراجا وبقايا مسجد قطري قديم.;
