Agricultural quarantine offices inspected 7,070 shipments in May

Doha: The Ministry of Municipality and Environment’s agricultural quarantine offices have inspected 7,070 imported shipments, weighing more than 147,000 tonnes from different types of imported agricultural consignments, plant products and production inputs in May across the different customs points.
The agricultural quarantine offices of the Ministry of Municipality and Environment destroyed 92 shipments weighing more than 72 tonnes for violating the agricultural quarantine law and for certain damages.
The agricultural quarantine is the first line of defence for protection from agricultural infections.
The preventive procedure aims to protect the country’s agricultural wealth from foreign-originated pests.
It also requires that all plants, agricultural products and any other materials shall be subject to phytosanitary regulations for its procedures and to ensure that other agricultural production inputs are in conformity with the conditions and specifications.
قامت وزارة البلدية والبيئة -ممثلة بمكاتب الحجر الزراعي التابعة لإدارة الشؤون الزراعية- خلال شهر مايو الماضي، بالكشف على 7070 إرسالية زنتها 147106 أطنان من مختلف أنواع الإرساليات الزراعية المستوردة (إرساليات نباتية، ومنتجات مدخلات إنتاج)، وذلك بجميع المنافذ الجمركية بالدولة.
وقد تم إتلاف 92 إرسالية زنتها 72 طناً، لمخالفتها قانون الحجر الزراعي، وإصابتها بآفات حجرية أو غير حجرية بنسب كبيرة.
جدير بالذكر أن الحجر الزراعي يعتبر خط الدفاع الأول لحماية ووقاية النبات من الآفات الزراعية، وهو الإجراء الوقائي الذي يهدف إلى حماية الثروة النباتية في البلاد من خطر الإصابة بالآفات من خارج البلاد، والذي يقضي بإخضاع جميع النباتات والمنتجات الزراعية وأية مواد أخرى خاضعة للوائح الصحة النباتية لإجراءات الحجر الزراعي، ومدى مطابقة مدخلات الإنتاج الزراعي الأخرى للشروط والمواصفات المعمول بها، كما تقوم مكاتب الحجر الزراعي بتطبيق قانون الحجر الزراعي رقم (24) لسنة 2005م، ولائحته التنفيذية والقرارات والتعاميم التابعة له.
