Washington: Meta announced that it will stop the ability to conduct chats between Facebook Messenger and Instagram starting mid-December.
Meta made it possible to link the instant messaging service Facebook Messenger with Instagram three years ago so that users could exchange messages through its two platforms.
According to the statement published by the company through the official support section, Instagram users will not be able to conduct new conversations with or contact Facebook accounts and all conversations between users of both platforms will remain as they are, as they will become available for reading only without the ability to exchange new messages, Facebook accounts will not be able to display the activity status of Instagram accounts and any chats conducted with Facebook accounts will not be transferred to the inbox in Messenger.
Meta explained that chats with contacts in Messenger can be resumed using only a Facebook account after the new changes come into effect, and although the reasons that prompted the company to make these changes are not yet known, it is likely that they are related to the Digital Markets Act (DMA) regulated by the European Union (EU), and it is part of broad preparations that Meta is preparing to comply with that law, as the law forces major companies to provide interoperability between messaging platforms.
Reports indicate that Meta is testing the ability to receive messages from external messaging applications in the WhatsApp application.
Recently, the company has made some modifications to the Messenger service, including stopping support for SMS/MMS messages on Android and closing the Messenger Lite application.

واشنطن: أعلنت شركة /ميتا/ إيقاف إمكانية إجراء الدردشات بين فيسبوك ماسنجر وإنستغرام، بداية من منتصف شهر /ديسمبر/ الجاري.
وكانت ميتا قد أتاحت ربط خدمة المراسلة الفورية فيسبوك ماسنجر مع إنستغرام قبل ثلاث سنوات، ليتمكن المستخدمون من تبادل الرسائل عبر المنصتين التابعتين لها.
ووفقا للبيان الذي نشرته الشركة عبر قسم الدعم الرسمي، فإن مستخدمي إنستغرام لن يكون بمقدورهم إجراء محادثات جديدة مع حسابات فيسبوك أو الاتصال بها، وستبقى كافة المحادثات بين مستخدمي كلتا المنصتين كما هي، حيث ستصبح متاحة للقراءة فقط دون القدرة على تبادل رسائل جديدة، ولن تتمكن حسابات فيسبوك من عرض حالة النشاط لحسابات إنستغرام، كما لن تنقل أي دردشات أجريت مع حسابات فيسبوك إلى البريد الوارد في ماسنجر.
وأوضحت /ميتا/ أنه يمكن استئناف الدردشات مع جهات الاتصال في ماسنجر باستخدام حساب فيسبوك فقط، بعد دخول التغييرات الجديدة حيز التنفيذ، وعلى الرغم من عدم معرفة الأسباب حتى الآن التي تدفع الشركة لإجراء تلك التغييرات، لكن رجح أنها مرتبطة بقانون الأسواق الرقمية الذي سنه الاتحاد الأوروبي، وأنها جزء من تحضيرات واسعة تعدها ميتا للامتثال لذلك القانون، حيث يجبر القانون الشركات الكبرى على توفير إمكانية التشغيل البيني بين منصات المراسلة.
وتشير التقارير إلى أن ميتا تختبر إمكانية استقبال الرسائل من تطبيقات المراسلة الخارجية في تطبيق واتساب.
وكانت الشركة قد أجرت أيضا بعض التعديلات في خدمة ماسنجر خلال الآونة الأخيرة، ومنها إيقاف دعم رسائل (SMS/MMS) في أندرويد، وإغلاق تطبيق ماسنجر لايت.
