Geneva: The World Health Organization’s chief emergency expert said that launching a vaccine to prevent COVID-19 will allow the world to gradually control the disease next year.
Michael J. Ryan explained to Irish television (RTE) that vaccinations do not mean the end of Covid-19, as they will allow, with the current measures, to avoid general isolation and gain gradual control of the disease.
“We have to be fully aware that we need to reduce the chances of infecting others when carefully organizing families at Christmas celebrations,” the international official said.
On the other hand, the World Health Organization urged African countries to rapidly improve their ability to vaccinate their populations against the virus, warning that the continent is still largely unprepared for comprehensive vaccination campaigns.
In Europe, the strict home quarantine implemented by European countries has yielded tangible results, and several countries have begun to gradually ease restrictions as Christmas approaches.
And if the health situation continues to improve, France will lift the home quarantine on December 15th, to be replaced by a nationwide curfew from nine in the evening to seven in the morning, except Christmas and New Year nights on December 24th and 31st.
In England, which has imposed a lockdown for four weeks, non-essential stores will reopen their doors in early December in parallel with the implementation of an intensive examination program to detect infections, but the vast majority of the population will remain subject to strict restrictions.

In Italy, the Coronavirus has claimed the lives of about 53 thousand people so far, and the cases exceeded 1.5 million, followed by France, where it recorded more than 51 thousand deaths and more than two million and 235 thousand cases.

وقال المسؤول الدولي «علينا أن ندرك تمامًا أننا بحاجة إلى تقليل فرص إصابة الآخرين عند تنظيم العائلات بعناية في احتفالات عيد الميلاد».
من ناحية أخرى حضّت منظّمة الصحة العالمية الدول الإفريقية على تحسين قدرتها بسرعة على تطعيم سكانها ضد الفيروس، محذّرةً من أنّ القارة ما زالت غير مستعدة إلى حد كبير لحملات تطعيم شاملة.
وفي أوروبا، أدى الحجر المنزليّ الصارم الذي طبقته دول أوروبية إلى نتائج ملموسة، وباشرت بلدان عدّة تخفيف القيود تدريجيًا مع اقتراب عيد الميلاد.
وإذا واصل الوضع الصحي التحسن، سترفع فرنسا الحجر المنزلي في 15 ديسمبر ليحل محله حظر تجوال على المستوى الوطني من التاسعة مساءً إلى السابعة صباحًا مع استثناء ليلتي عيد الميلاد ورأس السنة في 24 و31 ديسمبر.
وفي إنجلترا التي تفرض الإغلاق منذ أربعة أسابيع، ستعاود المتاجر غير الأساسية فتح أبوابها في مطلع ديسمبر بموازاة تطبيق برنامج فحوص مكثفة لكشف الإصابات، غير أن الغالبية الكبرى من السكان ستبقى خاضعة لقيود صارمة.

وبعد تجاوز حصيلة الإصابات بالفيروس في ألمانيا أمس حاجز المليون، باتت الدولة رقم 12 التي يتجاوز فيها عدد المصابين مليون شخص. وبحسب منظمة الصحة العالمية تم تسجيل زيادات قياسية للإصابات بفيروس كورونا خلال الأيام الأخيرة.
