QNA
Sydney: A painting by famed Australian artist Brett Whiteley has sold at auction for USD 4.6 million, setting a new record in the country and underscoring the appeal of art investments amid the uncertainties of the coronavirus pandemic.
The painting ‘Henry Chair’ is a chaotic depiction of Sydney Harbor through the windows of Whiteley’s home in the Lavender Bay area of Sydney.
The artist last sold this painting to attorney Cliff Evatt in the mid-1970s.
The price, which surpassed the previous record of A $ 5.4 million, reflects a situation in which luxury goods or luxury goods have turned into a safe area of spending for those with money, after travel and social networking have become largely out of reach.
