Ashghal Starts Converting Street 33 in Industrial Area into Expressway

Doha: The Public Works Authority Ashghal announces the start of Industrial Area Street 33 Upgrade Project, with a length of about 5 km, to covert it into a highway to provide free traffic flow from 33 East Interchange on East Industrial Street and the Industrial Area Road reaching West Industrial Street.

Street 33 will be expanded from three lanes in each direction to four lanes in each direction to accommodate about 16,000 vehicles per hour, in addition to two new interchanges of two levels that will be built to link Street 33 with each of Al Kassarat Street and West Industrial Street, respectively, instead of the two existing roundabouts.

With the completion of the project works by 2022, Street 33 will bring about a major improvement in traffic movement due to its strategic location in the heart of the Industrial Area, significantly saving the travel time without the need to use the local streets.

Street 33 is integrated with the Industrial Area Road to connect the traffic coming from Doha towards the Industrial Area and a number of other vital streets such as the East Industrial Street, Al Kassarat Street and West Industrial Street to facilitate access to both Salwa Road on one side and G Ring Road on the other side.

Street 33 will also cause a great traffic flow between the north and south of the Industrial Area and the New Industrial Area through its direct connections with the main local streets such as Al Karajat Street, Al Manajer Street, Al Banaa Street and Al Taqa Street.

The old roundabout connecting Kassarat Street with Street 33 will be removed and a two-level intersection and traffic light will be constructed instead. The old roundabout that connects West Industrial Street with Street 33 will also be removed to establish a two-level intersection and a traffic light.

Industrial Area Street 33 Upgrade Project will also include the construction of new infrastructure for water, electricity, communications and treated water lines for green irrigating areas, as well as developing drainage network and rainwater drainage network.

For his part, Asst. Manager of Highway Projects Department Engineer Bader Darwish confirmed that the Public Works Authority Ashghal continues to work on providing an integrated road network that commensurate with Qatar National Vision 2030, indicating that the Industrial Area is among the priorities of Ashghal due to its strategic importance. He added that many of the roads that serve the Industrial Area, such as the Industrial Area Road, the G Ring Road, East Industrial Street, and West Industrial Street, were developed, in addition to the various local roads that aim to fully develop the Industrial Area.

He explained that Industrial Area Street 33 Upgrade Project is scheduled to be completed in the first quarter of 2022 to serve many economic and industrial facilities in the area, as Street 33 is a major link between the east and west of the Industrial Area.

الدوحة: بدأت هيئة الأشغال العامة “أشغال” في تطوير شارع 33 بالمنطقة الصناعية بطول أعمال حوالي 5 كيلومترات وتحويله إلى طريق سريع ليوفر تدفقا مروريا حرا من تقاطع 33 الشرقي على شارع الصناعية الشرقي وطريق المنطقة الصناعية وصولا لشارع الصناعية الغربي.

يتضمن المشروع زيادة عدد مسارات شارع 33 من ثلاثة إلى أربعة في كل اتجاه ليستوعب نحو 16 ألف مركبة في الساعة، إلى جانب إنشاء تقاطعين جديدين من مستويين يربطان الشارع مع شارعي الكسارات والصناعية الغربي بدلا من الدوارين الحاليين.

ومع انتهاء أعمال المشروع مطلع 2022، يختصر زمن الرحلة بشكل كبير دون الحاجة لاستخدام الشوارع المحلية، حيث يتكامل شارع 33 مع طريق المنطقة الصناعية ليصل الحركة القادمة من الدوحة إلى كل من طريق سلوى من جهة والطريق الدائري السابع من جهة أخرى.

كما سيحقق الشارع انسيابية مرورية كبيرة بين شمال وجنوب المنطقة الصناعية والمنطقة الصناعية الجديدة من خلال اتصاله المباشر مع شوارع رئيسية محلية مثل شارع الكراجات وشارع المناجر وشارع البناء وشارع الطاقة.

ويتضمن المشروع إزالة الدوار القديم الذي يربط شارع الكسارات مع شارع 33 واستبداله بتقاطع من مستويين، وإشارة ضوئية، وكذلك سيتم إزالة الدوار القديم الذي يربط شارع الصناعية الغربي مع شارع 33 وإقامة بدلا منه تقاطع من مستويين وإشارة ضوئية.

كما سيتضمن مشروع تطوير شارع 33 إنشاء بنية تحتية جديدة لشبكات المياه والكهرباء والاتصالات وخطوط المياه المعالجة لري المسطحات الخضراء وتطوير شبكة الصرف الصحي وشبكة تصريف مياه الأمطار.

وفي هذا الصدد أكد المهندس بدر درويش، مدير إدارة مشروعات الطرق السريعة، أن هيئة الأشغال العامة “أشغال” تواصل العمل على توفير شبكة طرق متكاملة تتناسب ورؤية قطر الوطنية 2030، مشيرا إلى أن المنطقة الصناعية تأتي ضمن أولويات “أشغال” نظرا لأهميتها الإستراتيجية حيث تم تطوير العديد من الطرق التي تخدمها مثل طريق المنطقة الصناعية والطريق الدائري السابع وشارعي الصناعية الشرقي والغربي بالإضافة إلى الطرق المحلية المختلفة التي تستهدف تطوير المنطقة الصناعية بشكل كامل.

وأوضح أنه من المقرر الانتهاء من مشروع تطوير شارع 33 في الربع الأول من 2022 ليخدم العديد من المرافق الاقتصادية والصناعية في المنطقة حيث يعتبر حلقة وصل رئيسية تصل بين شرق وغرب المنطقة الصناعية.
