QNL Explores the Art of Arab Cinema Posters

Doha: Qatar National Library (QNL) will launch a new digital exhibition exploring the rich and diverse artwork of cinema posters in the Arab world. The exhibition will begin on Nov. 25 and will continue for six months.

Arab Cinema Posters: Art and Memory is a special digital exhibition of the distinctive artwork, featuring items from the Heritage Library’s Arab Cinema Archive collection, QNL said, adding that the exhibition also provides an overview of the emergence of movie artwork in the Arab world.

Head of Collection Access, Distinctive Collections at QNL Maryam Al-Muttawa said that this new exhibition highlights the work of Arab poster artists who reflected the spirit and characteristics of each era through attractive pieces of art, using a blend of brilliant colors, broad-font Arabic calligraphy and graphics, all of which combined to greatly contribute to the success of these films across the Arab world. It is the first digital exhibition in this regard.

QNL noted that for everyone’s safety, the visits will continue to be by appointment only. Moreover, visitors will be allowed into the building only if they fulfil some conditions.

الدوحة: أعلنت مكتبة قطر الوطنية، عن إطلاقها معرضا رقميا لمجموعة مختارة من الملصقات السينمائية المتميزة من أرشيفها للسينما العربية، ابتداءً من 25 نوفمبر الجاري ولمدة 6 أشهر.

وأوضحت المكتبة أن المعرض الرقمي، الذي يحمل عنوان /ملصقات السينما العربية: ذكريات وفنون/، هو تشكيلة من ملصقات أشهر الأفلام في تاريخ السينما العربية، تحتفظ بها المكتبة التراثية ضمن أرشيفها، مشيرة إلى أن المعرض يقدم رؤية عامة عن نشأة هذا الفن في العالم العربي وكيف انتقلت صناعته.

وقالت السيدة مريم المطوع رئيس قسم إتاحة المجموعات بمكتبة قطر الوطنية، إن المعرض هو أول معرض رقمي تقدمه المكتبة، مشيرة إلى أنه “يبرز أعمال الفنانين العرب الذين اشتهروا برسم أفيشات الأفلام، ونقلوا إلينا روح العصر والسمات المميزة للحقب الزمنية المختلفة التي عاشوا فيها عبر قطع فنية جذابة امتزجت بالألوان الزاهية والخطوط العربية والرسومات المتنوعة، وساهمت بشكل كبير في نجاح الأفلام التي صُنعت من أجلها”.

ونبهت مكتبة قطر الوطنية إلى ضرورة الحصول على موعد مسبق لزيارة المعرض بمقرها، مشيرة كذلك إلى عدد من الشروط التي يجب الالتزام بها كحجز الزيارة عبر النموذج المخصص لهذا الغرض على الموقع الإلكتروني للمكتبة، وغيرها.
