Qatar Entrepreneurship Conference Kicks Off

Doha: Under the patronage of HE Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al-Thani, HE Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari, Minister of Commerce and Industry, and Chairman of the Qatar Development Bank (QDB), inaugurated the first virtual edition of the Qatar Entrepreneurship Conference (Rowad Qatar 2020).

At the outset of his speech, HE Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari, Minister of Commerce and Industry and Chairman of the Board of Directors of QDB, thanked HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior for his sponsorship of the conference. He also expressed his happiness at the opening of the conference, noting that it is a distinguished platform that aims to enhance the participation of entrepreneurs in making the future of Qatar’s economy..

His Excellency added that this pioneering national initiative complements the successes of its predecessors and complements the country’s strategy to enrich the entrepreneurial work system, which has been positively reflected in many international reports and studies, pointing out that the State of Qatar, according to the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor report, ranked first in the entrepreneurship environment at the level of the Middle East and North Africa region and third in the world.

HE the Minister of Commerce and Industry highlighted the efforts made by the State in addressing the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, and its achievements in entrepreneurship through the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the QDB. His Excellency also touched on the National Guarantee Program that was launched based on the directives of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, and which is closely followed up and supervised by HE Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al-Thani, adding that the program is part of the private sector support package that included QR 75 billion.

He also stressed the Ministry of Commerce and Industry’s keenness to consolidate cooperation and joint coordination with the various relevant government agencies and bodies in order to facilitate and shorten the procedures for granting approvals and licenses necessary for establishing businesses and providing access to these services through single window’s smart electronic platform.

HE Al Kuwari added that the Ministry launched ‘Land and Industrial Loan’ initiative in cooperation with the QDB to enable investors to obtain licenses and industrial lands in the Small and Medium Industrial Area, and to complete the financing procedures through the same application that was submitted for industrial land, in a step aimed at encouraging investors to contribute to the path of the State of Qatar towards achieving self-sufficiency and diversifying its national economy.

His Excellency continued by saying that work continues to remove all the challenges that would face the various components of the private sector, especially entrepreneurship, support it in the economic recovery phase from the pandemic and direct it towards priority economic sectors based on technology, scientific research and development, as it is considered the locomotive of the national economy towards achieving the future vision of the State of Qatar by the year 2030. 

QDB is organizing Qatar Entrepreneurship Conference (Rowad Qatar 2020) in its first virtual edition in the history of the event that is being held for the sixth year in a row.

The conference’s participants praised the efforts made by QDB this year in organizing the first virtual edition of Rowad Qatar 2020, and its impact on achieving greater access and its true embodiment of the conference theme in sustainability for a successful and smooth digital transformation.

Held under the theme, ‘Business Sustainability – My Impact on My Economy and My Country’, this year’s edition of Rowad Qatar features many discussion sessions, workshops and distinctive training courses that deal with topics in various fields related to entrepreneurship in Qatar and the world, in line with the conference theme.

The conference’s opening discussion session addressed ways of cooperation between the academic research field, institutions and companies interested in entrepreneurship, and was praised by the participants, attendees and followers on digital platforms.

QDB honored distinguished entrepreneurs through its two awards for the National Entrepreneurship Competition, Al Fikra 2020, and the Resilient Award.

The National Entrepreneurship Competition’s Al Fikra 2020 Award aims to develop and support entrepreneurs and strengthen their capabilities to be highly qualified individuals in the field of business, capable of competition and creativity. The Award is divided into three categories: the challenges category, which includes the digital sector, the healthcare sector, the education sector and the industrial sector. The second category is called the Start-Up, which falls under all sectors, except for the food and beverage sector, in addition to the last category for teams consisted of affiliates of universities that are nominated to be representatives of their universities to compete on their behalf in the competition.

The Resilient Award aims to honor small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that were able to efficiently face the consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic, and were able to strategically turn this challenge into an opportunity for growth and prosperity.

Organized and supervised by the QDB, this pioneering national initiative has Qatar Investment Authority as strategic sponsor, Qatar National Bank and National Tourism Council as platinum sponsors, Ooredoo as golden sponsor, and Qatar Chamber as honorary partner, in addition to many national partners in many sectors.

وفي مستهل كلمته توجه سعادة السيد علي بن أحمد الكواري وزير التجارة والصناعة ورئيس مجلس إدارة بنك قطر للتنمية بالشكر والتقدير لمعالي رئيس مجلس الوزراء ووزير الداخلية لرعايته للمؤتمر، كما أعرب عن سعادته بافتتاح المؤتمر، مشيرًا إلى أنه يعد منصة متميزة تهدف إلى تعزيز مشاركة رواد الأعمال في صناعة مستقبل اقتصاد دولة قطر.

وأضاف سعادته أن هذه المبادرة الوطنية الرائدة تأتي مكملةً لنجاحات سابقاتها، ومتممةً لاستراتيجية الدولة في إثراء منظومة العمل الريادي بما انعكس إيجابا على العديد من التقارير والدراسات الدولية، لافتاً إلى أن دولة قطر نالت العام الماضي وفقًا لتقرير المرصد العالمي لريادة الأعمال المرتبة الأولى في بيئة ريادة الأعمال على مستوى منطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال إفريقيا، والثالثة على مستوى العالم.

وأشار سعادة وزير التجارة والصناعة إلى الجهود التي بذلتها الدولة في التصدي لجائحة فيروس كورونا /كوفيد ـ 19/، وإلى الإنجازات التي حققتها في ريادة الأعمال من خلال وزارة التجارة والصناعة وبنك قطر للتنمية حيث تطرق سعادته إلى برنامج الضمانات الوطني الذي تم إطلاقه بناء على توجيهات حضرة صاحب السمو الشيخ تميم بن حمد آل ثاني أمير البلاد المفدى، وبمتابعة حثيثة وإشراف من قبل معالي الشيخ خالد بن خليفة بن عبدالعزيز آل ثاني رئيس مجلس الوزراء ووزير الداخلية.. مشيراً إلى أن البرنامج يعد جزءاً من حزمة دعم القطاع الخاص التي اشتملت على 75 مليار ريال قطري.

كما أكدّ على حرص وزارة التجارة والصناعة على توطيد التعاون والتنسيق المشترك مع مختلف الجهات والهيئات الحكومية المعنية، بهدف تيسير واختصار إجراءات منح الموافقات والتراخيص اللازمة لتأسيس الأعمال وإتاحة الوصول إلى هذه الخدمات عبر المنصة الالكترونية الذكية للنافذة الواحدة.

وأضاف سعادة السيد علي بن أحمد الكواري أن الوزارة أطلقت مبادرة أرض وقرض صناعي بالتعاون مع بنك قطر للتنمية لتمكين المستثمرين من الحصول على التراخيص والأراضي الصناعية في منطقة الصناعات الصغيرة والمتوسطة، واستكمال إجراءات التمويل عبر نفس الطلب الذي تم تقديمه للأرض الصناعية وذلك في خطوة تهدف إلى تشجيع المستثمرين على المساهمة في مسيرة دولة قطر نحو تحقيق اكتفائها الذاتي وتنويع اقتصادها الوطني.

وتابع سعادته أن العمل متواصل على رفع كافة التحديات التي من شأنها أن تواجه مختلف مكونات القطاع الخاص ولا سيما ريادة الأعمال، ودعمها في مرحلة التعافي الاقتصادي من الجائحة وتوجيهها نحو القطاعات الاقتصادية ذات الأولوية والقائمة على التكنولوجيا والبحث العلمي والتطوير، لكونها تعتبر قاطرة الاقتصاد الوطني نحو تحقيق الرؤية المستقبلية لدولة قطر بحلول العام 2030.

ويتولى بنك قطر للتنمية وللعام السادس على التوالي إدارة وتنظيم الأسبوع العالمي لريادة الأعمال، إحدى مبادرات الشبكة العالمية لريادة الأعمال، الحاضرة بنشاطاتها الريادية في أكثر من 180 دولة، وقد أشاد المشاركون في المؤتمر بالجهود التي يقوم بها بنك قطر للتنمية لهذا العام في إقامة النسخة الأولى من رواد قطر 2020 بشكل افتراضي وما لهذا من أثر في تحقيق وصول أكبر وتجسيد حقيقي لشعار المؤتمر في الاستدامة وللتحول الرقمي الناجح والسلس.

وتتميز نسخة هذا العام من رواد قطر والتي تحمل شعار: /الاستدامة في الأعمال: تأثيري على بلادي واقتصادي/ بالعديد من الجلسات النقاشية وورش العمل والدورات التدريبية المميزة والتي تتناول العديد من المواضيع في شتى المجالات المتعلقة بريادة الأعمال في قطر والعالم والمتماشية مع شعار المؤتمر.

وتناولت الجلسة النقاشية الافتتاحية للمؤتمر سبل التعاون بين المجال الأكاديمي البحثي والمؤسسات والشركات المهتمة بريادة الأعمال، ونالت رضى المشاركين والحضور والمتابعين عبر المنصات الرقمية.

كما تم تكريم الفائزين بجائزة المسابقة الوطنية /الفكرة 2020/ الهادفة إلى تطوير أفكار مشاريع رواد الأعمال، والعمل على تحويل هذه الأفكار إلى مشاريع تجارية ناجحة، من خلال تمكين المشاركين فيها عبر سلسلة من الدورات التدريبية التي من شأنها أن تكسبهم المعارف والمهارات اللازمة من أجل تطوير أفكارهم.

ونال الجائزة في الفئات الثلاث كل من (ثوت سكوير) في المركز الأول، (وتشطيب) المركز الثاني، (وأريفا) المركز الثالث في فئة /التحديات/. وفي فئة /ستارت أب/ كل من (مصيدة التسلل) في المركز الأول، (وفيكانيك،) المركز الثاني، (وصونها) في المركز الثالث. أما في فئة /مشروعي/ الخاصة بطلبة الجامعات ففاز فيها كل من (مصنع الدقة لإعادة تدّوير المعادن) بالمركز الأول، (وإكوفيند) بالمركز الثاني. وتتميز المشاريع الفائزة بتميزها الإبداعي في مقاربتها الابتكارية.

أما الجائزة الثانية: /تحويل التحديات إلى فرص/ المخصصة للشركاء التي كانت الأفضل أداءً في خضم جائحة فيروس كورونا /كوفيد ـ 19/ ،ممن تغلبوا على هذا التحدي وجعلوا من الأزمة منصة للإبداع والتميز، فنالت (شركة سنونو للتجارة والخدمات) المركز الأول، وشركة (المصنع القطري الألماني للأجزاء المانعة للتسرب) المركز الثاني، وفي المركز الثالث (الشركة الصناعية لأنظمة السحب والتكييف المركزي).

وتأتي هذه الخطوة من بنك قطر للتنمية لتكريم والتعريف برواد الأعمال عبر هذه المنصة الرائدة ولإذكاء روح الإبداع والابتكار، بما ينعكس بشكل إيجابي على مناخ ريادة الأعمال ومنظومة العمل الحر ويجعل دولة قطر مركزًا مميزا عربيًا ودوليًا.

وتأتي هذه المبادرة الوطنية الرائدة بتنظيم وإشراف بنك قطر للتنمية، ورعاية استراتيجية من جهاز قطر للاستثمار، ورعاية بلاتينية من بنك قطر الوطني والمجلس الوطني للسياحة، ورعاية ذهبية من شركة أريد، وشراكة فخرية مع غرفة قطر، فضلًا عن العديد من الشركاء الوطنيين في العديد من القطاعات.
