Ashghal Completes Stormwater Drainage Network to Serve Areas in Doha West

Doha: The Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal’ announced the completion of the stormwater drainage network which serves four areas in Doha West: Fereej Al-Manaseer, South Muaither, Bu Sidra, and Al-Sailiya until Al Furousiya Street. The newly completed network comes as part of Ashghal’s strategy to preserve the environment and public health and safety.
Project Engineer at Ashghal’s Roads Projects Department Eng. Mohamed Al Ateeg said that the pipe laying works for the stormwater drainage network were carried out at a total length of 4.4 km and a depth ranging between 10m – 18m underground, the scope of works also involved providing 28 rainwater drainage outlets connected to ground pipes, which in turn are connected to pumping stations, running along Al Furousiya Street, South Muaither Street, Duhail Misfer Street, Rawdat Hubeira Street, then Rass Laffan Street, to tie into the pipeline extending along Al-Ashgar Street and Al Talha Street towards Al Sailiya Street. They eventually flow into Bu Sidra and Al-Manaseer pumping stations.
The project provides 63 connections to the drainage network pipelines that serve other existing projects in the area, this infrastructure upgrade for the stormwater drainage network serves several areas that are witnessing significant urban development, he added.
He also pointed out that the rainwater drainage network will reduce overflow during the rainy seasons and facilitate discharging of ponds and rainwater, thereby reducing congestion and the risk of traffic accidents. It will also lower the groundwater level which may damage the foundations of buildings and roads in these areas, and will enable rainwater collection for later use in irrigation, thereby increasing the green space in the city of Doha.

الدوحة: انتهت هيئة الأشغال العامة /أشغال/ من تنفيذ شبكة لتصريف المياه السطحية ومياه الأمطار تخدم أربع مناطق غرب الدوحة /فريج المناصير، جنوب معيذر، أبو سدرة، والسيلية/ وصولاً إلى شارع الفروسية، وذلك في إطار التوجه الاستراتيجي لـ/أشغال/ للمحافظة على البيئة والسلامة والصحة العامة.
وأوضح المهندس، محمد مسعود آل عتيق، مهندس المشروع بإدارة مشروعات الطرق في /أشغال/، أن الأعمال شملت تمديد أنابيب شبكة تصريف المياه السطحية ومياه الأمطار بطول حوالي 4.4 كيلومتر وعلى عمق يتراوح بين 10 إلى 18 متراً تحت سطح الأرض، وتوفير 28 فتحة لتصريف مياه الأمطار، موصولة بأنابيب أرضية تتصل بمحطات ضخ وتمتد على شوارع الفروسية وجنوب معيذر ودحيل مسفر وروضة هبيرة ثم شارع راس لفان لتتصل بالأنبوب الممتد على شارعي الأشجار والطلحة وصولاً إلى شارع السيلية لتصب في محطة ضخ أبو سدرة ومحطة ضخ المناصير.
وأضاف أن أعمال تطوير البنية التحتية لشبكة تصريف المياه السطحية ومياه الأمطار التي تم تنفيذها، تخدم عدّة مناطق تشهد تطوراً ونمواً كبيرين، حيث يوفر المشروع 63 وصلة لخطوط شبكة التصريف تخدم مشاريع أخرى قائمة بالمنطقة.
وأشار إلى أن تمديد شبكات تصريف مياه الأمطار سيؤدي إلى تقليل تراكم مياه الأمطار في موسم الأمطار وتسهيل تصريف تجمعاتها، وبالتالي تقليل الازدحام ومخاطر الحوادث المرورية فضلاً عن خفض منسوب المياه الجوفية الضارة بأساسات المباني والطرق في هذه المناطق وتجميع مياه الأمطار مما يمكن من الاستفادة منها في الري وبالتالي زيادة الرقعة الخضراء في مدينة الدوحة.
