New spray achieves promising results in the battle against Coronavirus

Washington: Researchers said that a new spray containing inhalable protein speeds up healing and reduces the chances of infection with coronavirus. According to the results of an experiment in which 48 volunteers participated, those infected with the emerging coronavirus who received the treatment represented by the spray known as “SNG 001” had higher chances of cure, compared to others who were given a placebo.

The drug developed by the Southampton-based company, Synergine, contains the anti-viral beta-1a protein that the body produces to fight viral infections and stimulate immunity, according to British Sky News, Professor Tom Wilkinson from the University of Southampton said: “The results of our study confirm that beta-antivirals, a drug widely known and approved for use in its injectable form, may have the ability, if inhaled, to support the immune response to the lung and accelerate recovery from Covid.-19 ».

واشنطن: قال باحثون إنّ بخاخًا جديدًا يحتوي على البروتين القابل للاستنشاق، يعمل على تسريع الشفاء، وتقليل احتمالات الإصابة بفيروس «كوفيد-19». ووَفق نتائج تجربة شارك فيها 48 متطوعًا، فإن المُصابين بفيروس كورونا المستجدّ الذين حصلوا على العلاج المتمثل بالبخاخ المعروف باسم «إس إن جي 001»، كانت فرص شفائهم أعلى، مقارنةً بآخرين أعطوا دواءً وهميًا.

ويحتوي العقار الذي طوّرته شركة «سينرجين» التي تتّخذ من ساوثامبتون مقرًا لها البروتين «بيتا- 1 أي» المضادّ للفيروسات، الذي ينتجه الجسم لمُكافحة الالتهابات الفيروسية وتحفيز المناعة، حسبما ذكرت شبكة «سكاي نيوز» البريطانيّة. وقال البروفيسور توم ويلكينسون من جامعة ساوثامبتون: «تؤكّد نتائجُ دراستنا أن مضاد الفيروسات (بيتا)، وهو عقار معروف على نطاق واسع ومُوافق للاستخدام في شكله القابل للحقن، قد يكون لديه القدرة في حال استنشاقه على دعم الاستجابة المناعيّة للرئة، وتسريع الشفاء من كوفيد-19».
