Qatar Condemns and Denounces Football’s Politicization, Racialization Attempts

New York: The State of Qatar condemned attempts to politicize and racialize football and sports, stressing that it refuses to engage with malicious campaigns, and will continue to adhere to its national and Arab values, and international standards in preventing the politicization and racialization of football in general.
This came in the State of Qatar’s statement given by HE Permanent Representative of Qatar to the United Nations Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani at the 77th UN General Assembly to discuss sports and development and a draft project on sports as a factor helping achieve sustainable development. The State of Qatar is facilitating discussions over the projects since it co-chairs, along with Monaco, the Group of Friends of Sport for Sustainable Development.
The General Assembly’s discussions coincide with the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, which is being hosted by the country.
Her Excellency said that Qatar was delivering on its promise, highlighting the historic opening ceremony for the World Cup that took place on Nov. 20, inaugurated by HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani with inspiring words.
“We have worked hard, along with many people, to make it one of the most successful tournaments. We have exerted all efforts and invested for the good of all humanity. Finally, we have reached the opening day, the day that you have been eagerly waiting for,” Her Excellency said, quoting the speech of HH the Amir at the opening ceremony.
“People of different races, nationalities, faiths and orientations will gather here in Qatar, and around screens on all continents to share the same exciting moments. How beautiful it is for people to put aside what divides them in order to celebrate their diversity and what brings them together at the same time,” His Highness added.
She expressed her appreciation of His Highness’s historic speech, saying it was an eloquent reply to the unfair and politicized campaigns, that carried racial elements, targeting the State of Qatar’s hosting of the World Cup.
Her Excellency noted that the announcement of sustainable development goals at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 during the historic launch of Scoring For The Goals on Nov. 21, which calls for cooperation to achieve sustainable development goals on the sidelines of the competition.
In this context, Sheikha Alya noted the launch of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Pavilion on the sidelines of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 competition in the Fan Zone at Al Bidda Park by Chairperson of Education Above All (EAA) Foundation and SDG Advocate HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser.
HE the Ambassador confirmed that this pavilion will hold and organize various activities throughout the days of the tournament, in cooperation with the Foundation’s partners from UNICEF, UNESCO and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, pointing to holding discussion sessions with world leaders, presenting works of art, and workshops to highlight sport as a means to promote international development and peace, in addition to its role in achieving the goals of sustainable development.
She also expressed the State of Qatar’s pride in this pavilion, which had the honor of visiting HE Secretary-General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres during his participation in the opening of the tournament.
Her Excellency renewed the State of Qatar’s firm commitment to work with regional and international partners to confront international challenges and problems, and to provide effective solutions to them, especially the implementation of the relevant General Assembly resolution.
She praised the report of the UN Secretary-General on sports as an incentive for a better and stronger recovery for everyone, calling on member countries to implement the report’s important recommendations.

نيويورك: أعربت دولة قطر عن شجبها واستنكارها محاولات تسييس أو “عنصرة” كرة القدم والرياضة، مؤكدة ترفعها عن الحملات المغرضة، والذهاب قدما في التزامها بقيمها الوطنية والعربية، والمعايير الدولية الراسخة التي تمنع تسييس أو “عنصرة” كرة القدم والرياضة بشكل عام.
جاء ذلك في بيان دولة قطر، الذي أدلت به سعادة الشيخة علياء أحمد بن سيف آل ثاني المندوب الدائم لدولة قطر لدى الأمم المتحدة، أمام جلسة الجمعية العامة للأمم المتحدة في دورتها السابعة والسبعين، لبحث بند “الرياضة والتنمية”، وللنظر في مشروع القرار المعنون: “الرياضة باعتبارها عاملاً مساعداً لتحقيق التنمية المستدامة”، الذي تساهم دولة قطر بتيسير المشاورات حوله بصفة رئاستها بالشراكة مع إمارة موناكو لمجموعة أصدقاء الرياضة من أجل التنمية.
وتتزامن مناقشات الجمعية العامة مع بطولة كأس العالم FIFA قطر 2022، التي تستضيفها الدولة.
وقالت سعادتها ” نُوفي بما وعدنا به العالم، حيث كان الافتتاح التاريخي لبطولة كأس العالم لكرة القدم في العشرين من نوفمبر، والذي أطلقه حضرة صاحب السمو الشيخ تميم بن حمد آل ثاني أمير البلاد المفدى “حفظه الله”، بعباراته القوية والملهمة”.
واقتبست سعادة المندوب الدائم لدولة قطر من خطاب سموه “بذلنا الجهد واستثمرنا في الخير للإنسانية جمعاء، وأخيراً وصلنا إلى يوم الافتتاح الذي انتظرتموه بفارغ الصبر”.
وأضاف سموه : “سوف يجتمع الناس على اختلاف أجناسهم وجنسياتهم وعقائدهم وتوجهاتهم هنا في قطر، وحول الشاشات في جميع قارات العالم، للمشاركة في لحظات الإثارة ذاتها، وما أجمل أن يضع الناس ما يفرقهم جانباً، لكي يحتفوا بتنوّعهم وما يجمعهم في الوقت ذاته”.
وأعربت عن اعتزازها بخطاب الافتتاح التاريخي لحضرة صاحب السمو “حفظه الله”، قائلة إنه “أقوى وأبلغ رد على الحملات المجحفة والانتقائية، والمسيّسة الموغلة في إيحاءات العنصرية والاستعلاء، التي تستهدف تنظيم دولة قطر المونديال”.
وأكدت عزم دولة قطر على المواصلة في التركيز على ما يخدم الإنسانية، من خلال بناء الشراكات الاستراتيجية، وتوسيع آليات التعاون الدولي، لتحقيق التعايش ونشر ثقافة التسامح والسلام بين شعوب العالم كافةً.
ولفتت سعادتها إلى أن ما يسر دولة قطر، هو الإعلان عن حضور أهداف التنمية المستدامة في بطولة كأس العالم FIFA قطر 2022، وذلك من خلال الإطلاق التاريخي يوم 21 نوفمبر الماضي لحملة استثنائية بعنوان “التهديف من أجل أهداف التنمية المستدامة”، والتي تدعو إلى التكاتف والالتقاء من أجل تحقيق أهداف التنمية المستدامة على هامش البطولة.
وفي هذا السياق، أشارت سعادة الشيخة علياء، إلى افتتاح صاحبة السمو الشيخة موزا بنت ناصر، رئيسة مجلس إدارة مؤسسة التعليم فوق الجميع وعضو مجموعة المدافعين عن أهداف التنمية المستدامة للأمم المتحدة، جناح “أهداف التنمية المستدامة” في منطقة المشجعين.
وأكدت سعادة السفيرة أن هذا الجناح سيجري من خلاله عقد وتنظيم نشاطات متعددة على مدار أيام البطولة، وبالتعاون مع شركاء المؤسسة من اليونيسف، واليونسكو، والمفوضية السامية للأمم المتحدة لشؤون اللاجئين، لافتة إلى عقد جلسات نقاشية مع قادة عالميين، وتقديم أعمال فنية، وورش عمل لتسليط الضوء على الرياضة كوسيلة لتعزيز التنمية والسلام دولياً، إضافة إلى دورها في تحقيق أهداف التنمية المستدامة.
كما أعربت عن اعتزاز دولة قطر بهذا الجناح الذي حظي بشرف زيارة سعادة السيد أنطونيو غوتيرش، الأمين العام للأمم المتحدة، أثناء مشاركته في افتتاح البطولة.
وجددت سعادتها التزام دولة قطر الثابت بالعمل مع الشركاء الإقليميين والدوليين على مواجهة التحديات والمشكلات الدولية، وتقديم حلول ناجعة لها، خاصة تطبيق قرار الجمعية العامة المتعلق بهذا الشأن.
وأشادت بتقرير الأمين العام للأمم المتحدة المعنون “الرياضة: حافز لتعافٍ أفضل وأقوى للجميع”، داعية الدول الأعضاء للعمل على تطبيق توصيات التقرير المهمة.
