Al-Raya, The Peninsula Highlight Qatar Airways’ New Judicial Victory

Doha: Al-Raya and the Peninsula newspapers highlighted in their Monday editorials the victory achieved by Qatar Airways in the legal battle it waged against Al Arabiya channel in the UK, which aimed to protect its operations from false and politically motivated allegations.

In this regard, the two newspapers pointed out that the victory in this case is considered one of the gains that the State of Qatar has achieved at the international level against the blockading countries, adding that it is an important message for everyone that confirms that Qatar was able to thwart all conspiracies and defeated them in the international courts.

For its part, Al-Raya newspaper affirmed in its editorial that the victory of Qatar Airways in the judicial battle it waged in the UK against a number of the blockading countries adds to the series of gains that Qatar has achieved at the international level against these countries, and that the importance of this victory stems from the fact that the lawsuit filed by Qatar Airways against Al Arabiya channel for publishing videos in August of 2017, explains the impact of the illegal and unjust blockade on Qatar and Qatar Airways.

The paper also noted that the video that was published by Al Arabiya is wrong and misleading, and it was made to frighten customers from traveling on Qatar Airways flights.

The paper indicated that Qatar had to resort to the Supreme Court of the UK to protect its rights, given that the video aims mainly to harm Qatar and its airways in the context of the unjust and illegal blockade imposed on it, especially since the aforementioned video has been widely viewed in the UK and around the world, and it also sparked a wave of condemnation in the media, adding that The Independent British newspaper described it as “beyond provocative.”

The paper said that it is important for Al Arabiya to realize that there is no explanation for this behavior other than deliberate harm to Qatar and its airlines through a carefully prepared scheme, and the relevant video is part of a series of publications that the concerned channel has been broadcasting for political motives that are hostile to the State of Qatar.

Qatar Airways has proven that the video broadcasted by Al Arabiya was false and conveyed false impressions, and that the channel published it with intent to harm its interests, reputation, as well as the reputation of Qatar, which is why the court accepted Qatar Airways’ claim, as the channel failed to justify its position despite its attempt to challenge the jurisdiction of the Supreme Court of the UK, claiming that Dubai courts would be more appropriate for the case, the paper added.

The paper concluded its editorial by saying that Qatar Airways, by presenting such cases, confirms its keenness to protect its operations from such kind of false and politically motivated allegations that the blockading countries have been weaving against Qatar, as it was able to thwart all conspiracies and defeated it, bringing victory in all international courts, which proves that the victory in this case in a significant message to everyone that Qatar will not give up its rights.

The Peninsula newspaper emphasized that the successes achieved by Qatar Airways since its establishment still bother many of its competitors, which led them to target it since the imposition of the blockade on the State of Qatar.

The newspaper highlighted the announcement of Qatar Airways on Sunday that it has brought claims in the English High Court against the Al Arabiya news channel relating to a video simulation published in August 2017 which purported to explain the effect of the illegal blockade on Qatar and Qatar Airways.

It added that the Al Arabiya video included an animation which depicted a Qatar Airways aircraft being intercepted and potentially being shot down by a fighter jet in the context of the illegal blockade. The video was widely viewed worldwide, and it was produced in an attempt to mislead people and deter customers from flying with Qatar Airways, being part of a series of politically motivated anti-Qatar publications, the newspaper clarified.

The Peninsula also pointed out that the decision of the blockading states to prevent Qatar Airways from operating in their countries and flying over their airspace was aimed to hinder its growth. No doubt that the step was a clear breach of civil aviation conventions and several binding agreements that the blockading countries are signatories to; Qatar Airways kept seeking justice through international arbitration to get compensation from the countries that imposed a blockade on Qatar, the newspaper said.

The newspaper concluded by highlighting the comments of HE Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Akbar Al Baker who said, “Qatar Airways is determined to protect its business from spurious and politically motivated attacks such as this, and we have confidence that the English High Court will deliver justice in this dispute. This judgement is welcomed and it is an important step forward for Qatar Airways in its quest for justice.”

الدوحة: أبرزت صحيفتا /الراية/ و/البيننسولا/ في افتتاحيتهما اليوم، الانتصار الذي حققته الخطوط الجوية القطرية في معركتها القضائية التي خاضتها ضد قناة العربية في بريطانيا، والتي جاءت لحماية عملياتها من الادعاءات الزائفة وذات الدوافع السياسية.

وأشارت الصحيفتان في هذا الصدد إلى أن الانتصار في هذه القضية يعتبر من المكاسب التي حققتها دولة قطر على الصعيد الدولي ضد دول الحصار، وهي رسالة مهمة للجميع تؤكد أن قطر استطاعت إحباط جميع المؤامرات وانتصرت قضائيا عليها في المحاكم الدولية.

ومن ناحيتها، أكدت صحيفة /الراية/ في افتتاحيتها أن تحقيق الخطوط الجوية القطرية انتصارا في المعركة قضائية التي خاضتها في بريطانيا ضد عدد من دول الحصار، يضاف لسلسة المكاسب التي حققتها قطر على الصعيد الدولي ضد هذه الدول ، وأن أهمية هذا الانتصار تنبع من أن الدعوى التي رفعتها الخطوط الجوية القطرية ضد قناة العربية لنشرها مقاطع فيديو في أغسطس 2017، توضح تأثير الحصار الجائر وغير القانوني على قطر والخطوط الجوية القطرية.

وأشارت إلى أن المقطع المصور الذي نشرته “العربية” ويحاكي طائرة تابعة للخطوط الجوية القطرية، يتم اعتراضها من قبل طائرة عسكرية مقاتلة بهدف إسقاطها، خاطئ ومضلل، وقد هدف المقطع إلى إخافة العملاء من السفر على متن رحلات الخطوط الجوية القطرية، كما أن المقطع المعني جزء من سلسلة منشورات تبثها القناة المعنية بدوافع سياسية معادية لدولة قطر.

وبينت أنه كان لزاما على قطر أن تلجأ إلى المحكمة في بريطانيا لحماية حقوقها باعتبار أن المقطع المصور يهدف أساسا للإضرار بقطر وبخطوطها الجوية في سياق الحصار الجائر وغير القانوني عليها، خاصة أن المقطع المذكور تم مشاهدته على نطاق واسع في المملكة المتحدة وفي مختلف أنحاء العالم، كما أثار موجة من الاستنكار على وسائل الإعلام ووصفته صحيفة “الإندبندنت” البريطانية بأنه “أكثر من استفزاز”.

وقالت الصحيفة: “من المهم أن تدرك قناة العربية أنه ليس هناك تفسير لهذا التصرف سوى الإضرار المتعمد بقطر وبخطوطها الجوية من خلال مخطط معد بعناية، بهدف إخافة العملاء من السفر على متن رحلات الخطوط الجوية القطرية، كما أن المقطع المعني جزء من سلسلة منشورات ظلت تبثها القناة المعنية بدوافع سياسية ومعادية لدولة قطر.

وأضافت لقد أثبتت الخطوط الجوية القطرية أن المقطع الذي بثته العربية كان زائفا وينقل انطباعات خاطئة، وأن القناة نشرته بنية سيئة وبقصد الإضرار بمصالحها وسمعتها وسمعة قطر، ولذلك قبلت المحكمة دعوى الخطوط القطرية وفشلت القناة في تبرير موقفها رغم محاولتها الطعن في اختصاص المحكمة العليا في المملكة المتحدة، وادعت أن محاكم دبي ستكون أكثر ملاءمة للنظر في الدعوى.

وخلصت الصحيفة افتتاحيتها بالقول: “إن الخطوط الجوية القطرية، من خلال تقديم مثل هذه الدعاوى تؤكد حرصها على حماية عملياتها من مثل هذا النوع من الادعاءات الزائفة وذات الدوافع السياسية التي ظلت دول الحصار تحيكها ضد قطر، حيث استطاعت إحباط جميع المؤامرات وانتصرت قضائيا عليها في المحاكم الدولية ولذلك فإن الانتصار في هذه القضية الجديدة رسالة مهمة للجميع بأن قطر لن تتخلى عن حقوقها”.

وبدورها، أكدت صحيفة /البيننسولا/ الناطقة بالإنجليزية، على أن النجاحات التي حققتها الخطوط الجوية القطرية منذ تأسيسها لا تزال تزعج العديد من منافسيها، مما أدى إلى محاولة استهدافها بشتى الطرق منذ فرض الحصار على دولة قطر.

وأشارت الصحيفة في هذا الصدد، الى أن الدعوى القضائية التي رفعتها الخطوط الجوية القطرية في المحكمة العليا بالمملكة المتحدة ضد قناة العربية بنشرها مقاطع فيديو في أغسطس 2017، توضح تأثير الحصار غير القانوني على دولة قطر والخطوط الجوية القطرية.

وذكرت أن مقطع فيديو بثته قناة العربية تضمن رسوما مصورة تحاكي طائرة تابعة للخطوط الجوية القطرية يتم اعتراضها من قبل طائرة عسكرية مقاتلة بقصد إسقاطها في سياق الحصار الجائر وغير القانوني على دولة قطر… مشيرة إلى أنه تمت مشاهدة الفيديو على نطاق واسع في جميع أنحاء العالم، ولفتت إلى أن الفيديو تم إنتاجه في محاولة لتضليل الناس وردع العملاء عن السفر مع الخطوط الجوية القطرية، كجزء من سلسلة منشورات ذات دوافع سياسية معادية لقطر.

وأشارت إلى أن قرار دول الحصار، بمنع الخطوط الجوية القطرية من العمل في بلدانهم والتحليق فوق أجوائهم يهدف إلى إعاقة نموها وتوسعها.. موضحة أن إجراءات دول الحصار تشكل خرقا واضحا لاتفاقيات الطيران المدني والعديد من الاتفاقيات التي وقعت عليها هذه الدول، ولذلك واصلت الخطوط الجوية القطرية السعي لتحقيق العدالة من خلال التحكيم الدولي للحصول على تعويضات من دول الحصار.

وأشارت /البيننسولا/ في ختام افتتاحيتها، إلى تصريحات سعادة السيد أكبر الباكر، الرئيس التنفيذي لمجموعة الخطوط الجوية القطرية، الذي قال: “إن الخطوط الجوية القطرية تقوم بحماية عملياتها من مثل هذا النوع من الادعاءات الزائفة وذات الدوافع السياسية، وكلنا على ثقة من أن المحكمة العليا في المملكة المتحدة ستنتصر للعدالة في هذه القضية. نرحب بهذا القرار، ونعتبره خطوة مهمة بالنسبة للخطوط الجوية القطرية في سعيها /لإحقاق العدالة/”.
