Japan Formally Declares Prince Akishino as Crown Prince

Tokyo: Japan has formally declared on Sunday Prince Akishino as crown prince, who pledged to perform his duties at a ceremony held in Tokyo, which had been postponed for seven months due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
The prince, whose first name is Fumihito, became the first in line in the succession after his older brother, Emperor Naruhito, ascended the throne after their father abdicated.
According to Kyodo News, Emperor Naruhito announced that his younger brother was the crown prince to the people of Japan and the world in a ceremony on Sunday morning.
Prince Akishino, 54, is one of only three heirs to the throne, along with his son Hisahito, 14, and Prince Hitachi, 84, the younger brother of Emperor Akihito, who stepped down last year in Japan’s first abdication in two centuries.
Japan’s 1947 Imperial House Law states that only males in the paternal line can ascend the throne.

وذكرت وكالة /كيودو/ اليابانية أن الإمبراطور ناروهيتو قد أعلن أن شقيقه الأصغر وليا للعهد لشعب اليابان والعالم في حفل أقيم صباح اليوم.
والأمير أكيشينو البالغ من العمر (54 سنة) أحد ثلاثة ورثة فقط للعرش إلى جانب ابنه هيساهيتو (14سنة)، والأمير هيتاشي (84 سنة) الشقيق الأصغر للإمبراطور أكيهيتو الذي تنحى العام الماضي في أول تنازل لليابان عن العرش منذ قرنين.
وينص قانون البيت الإمبراطوري الياباني لعام 1947 على أن الذكور فقط من سلالة الأب هم من يمكنهم تولي العرش.
