AI Application diagnoses “Covid-19” Through Voice

Washington: the Next Web website announced that ‘Vocalis’ has developed a smartphone application backed by Artificial Intelligence algorithms that can diagnose Covid-19 through voice.
The website states that algorithms have been trained on the tone of voice of 275,000 people from different languages, and differences were recorded between the voices of the infected and others. It points out that at the start of use, the user is asked to “enter some common symptoms such as fever, cough, headache, or shortness of breath.”
The device then asks the user to count from 50 to 70, and then the algorithms extract 512 features from the acoustic sample, and create a spectral sound chart by which the infection can be diagnosed.
2,000 participants, in India, tested the app by taking swabs and then creating an audio via the app, with an 80% accuracy in detecting Covid-19.
The app was able to diagnose asymptomatic patients, in a big surprise.
Vocalis has been used in the United States, Chile, Indonesia, South Africa, Romania and Luxembourg, and is expected to be rolled out soon to other countries.

واشنطن: أعلن موقع «ذا نيكست ويب» أنَّ شركة «Vocalis»، طوّرت تطبيقًا للهاتف الذكي مدعومًا بخوارزميات الذكاء الاصطناعيّ يعمل على تشخيص الإصابة بفيروس كورونا من خلال الصوت.
ويوضح الموقعُ أنّه تمّ تدريب الخوارزميات على نبرة صوت 275 ألفَ شخص من مُختلف اللغات، وتمّ تسجيل فروقات بين أصوات المصابين من سواهم. ويلفت إلى أنه في بدء الاستخدام يُطلب من المستخدم «إدخال بعض الأعراض الشائعة إن كان لديه حرارة أو سعال أو صداع، أو ضيق تنفّس».
بعد ذلك يطلب الجهاز من المستخدم عدّ الأرقام من 50 إلى 70، ثم تستخرج الخوارزميات 512 ميزة من العينة الصوتيّة، وتصنع مُخططًا طيفيًا للصوت يمكن بواسطته تشخيص الإصابة.
يُشار إلى أنّه جرى اختبار التطبيق في الهند على 2000 مشارك، عبر أخذ مسحات لهم، ثم إدخال صوتهم عبر التطبيق، حيث بلغت دقةُ التطبيق 80%.
وتمكّن التطبيق من تشخيص مصابين لا تظهر عليهم أيُّ أعراض، في مفاجأة كبيرة. يُذكر أنّه تمّ استخدام «Vocalis» في الولايات المتحدة، وتشيلي، وإندونيسيا، وجنوب إفريقيا ورومانيا ولوكسمبورج، ويتوقّع أن يتم تعميمُه قريبًا على دول أخرى.
