QU Achieves 3rd Place in QS Arab Region University Rankings 2021

Doha: Qatar University (QU) places third in the QS Arab Region University Rankings 2021. This improvement allows QU to be on the podium for the first time, achieving 3rd place. The annual QS Arab Region University Rankings highlights 130 leading universities in this part of the world.

The methodology for this ranking was developed with the aim of reflecting specific challenges and priorities for institutions in the region, drawing on several indicators including international research network, papers per faculty and academic reputation.

In a statement on this occasion, QU President Dr. Hassan bin Rashid Al Derham said: “this is a proud moment for QU to be ranked as one of the top universities in Arab region, placing at 3rd on the QS Arab Region chart for the year 2021,” pointing out that QU has jumped 6 places since 2016.

“As per Qatar Universitys five-year strategy for 2018-2022, defines ways to achieve continuous excellence in performance and construction in the main areas of education, research, institution and participation, taking into account the plans and aspirations of Qatar National Vision 2030,” he added.

This achievement consolidates QUs recent achievement in the QS World University Ranking as the institution moved from 276 in 2020 to 245 in the 2021 ranking, effectively jumping 31 places, and becoming one of the most improved universities.

الدوحة: حققت جامعة قطر المركز الثالث في تصنيف مؤسسة كاكاريللي سيموندس /كيو- إس/ لجامعات المنطقة العربية 2021، وذلك من بين 130 جامعة في المنطقة شملها التصنيف.

ويعتمد هذا التصنيف على منهجية تعكس التحديات والأولويات المحددة للمؤسسات الجامعية في المنطقة، وذلك بالاعتماد على العديد من المؤشرات، بما في ذلك، شبكة البحث الدولية، وأبحاث كل عضو من أعضاء هيئة التدريس، والسمعة الأكاديمية.

وفي تصريح بهذه المناسبة، قال الدكتور حسن بن راشد الدرهم، رئيس جامعة قطر، إن هذه لحظة فخر لجامعة قطر بعد تصنيفها كواحدة من أفضل الجامعات في المنطقة العربية، في تصنيف مؤسسة كاكاريللي سيموندس /كيو-إس/ 2021، مشيرا إلى أن الجامعة صعدت ستة مراكز منذ العام 2016، في هذا التصنيف.

وأبرز أن هذا التميز المتواصل “يعزز خطى جامعة قطر وفق استراتيجيتها الخمسية للفترة 2018-2022، والتي حددت الطرق لتحقيق استمرارية التميز في الأداء، معتمدة على المجالات الرئيسية للتعليم والبحث والشراكات مع المؤسسات المختلفة، وما يحقق خطط وتطلعات رؤية قطر الوطنية 2030”.

كما نوه رئيس الجامعة بأن هذا الإنجاز الجديد للجامعة، يؤكد كذلك تقدمها في تصنيف مؤسسة كاكاريللي سيموندس للجامعات العالمية، حيث قفزت من المركز 276 في عام 2020 إلى المركز 245 في تصنيف 2021، بواقع 31 مرتبة، لتصبح واحدة من أكثر الجامعات تحسنا.
