وقال فوتر فوغل،المُؤلف المُشارك في الدراسة وعالم الأورام الإشعاعي في المعهد الهولندي للسرطان،«إنه بخلاف الغدد اللعابية المعروفة، ربما تنتشر ألف غدة لعابية مجهرية في جميع أنحاء الأنسجة المخاطية للحلق والفم».
