Al Hammadi, Advisory Committee for Teachers reviewed distance learning system

The Minister of Education and Higher Education, H E Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulwahed Al Hammadi, yesterday met with the newly elected members of the Advisory Committee for the Teachers of Government Schools via video conference.

H E the Minister reviewed with them the distance learning system and how to enhance it to improve the academic achievement of students. 

Some other topics were also highlighted during the meeting like challenges of new learning system and how to overcome them, roles of teachers, parents and students during the outbreak of COVID-19 and its impact on educational process.

H E Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulwahed Al Hammadi lauded the role of the Advisory Committee for Teachers saying that the Ministry depends on it a lot in setting policies and making decisions related to educational process. The Minister called members of the Advisory Committee to establish a platform to communicate with each other and express their views and the views of the educational field exchanging ideas and proposals for benefit the entire educational process as they represent 17,000 teachers, coordinators and administrators.

He also called the members of the committee to set an agenda with a clear vision on how to deal with challenges and to support the educational process.

On the implementation of the distance learning system, His Excellency said that the pandemic of coronavirus has brought us a useful experience that will help us all in enhancing e-learning and enhancing personal responsibility for student and teacher and parents. He said that student should learn for his future focusing on self-study to obtain knowledge not for certificates.  The Minister also praised the role of teachers in the current circumstance, stressing that their responsibility towards the students increased as the communication through the distance learning system has become more necessary now.

He noted that distance learning provided teachers with an opportunity to get closer to their students, asking them to build bridges of trust with them.

At the end of the meeting, the Minister affirmed that the committee has the full right to communicate and meet with any department of the Ministry to discuss issues and challenges that concern them or face them in the educational field.

The Advisory Committee for the Teachers of Government Schools comprises Saeed Salem Nasser Al Nabit Al Marri, an additional support teacher at Al Sheehaniya Preparatory School for Boys as Chairman of the committee, and Al Anoud Abdullah Abdul Rahman Abdullah Al Hammadi, Deputy Director for Academic Affairs at Al Taawun Primary School for Girls, as Vice-Chair, and a member (17) teachers representing all school levels.

التقى سعادة الدكتور محمد بن عبدالواحد الحمادي وزير التعليم والتعليم العالي، أمس، عبر تقنية «الفيديو كونفرانس» بأعضاء اللجنة الاستشارية لمعلمي المدارس الحكومية المنتخبين حديثاً.

واستعرض سعادته مع أعضاء اللجنة فرص وخيارات التعلم عن بعد وكيفية تعزيزها لتحسين التحصيل الأكاديمي للطلبة، بما في ذلك التحديات وكيفية تذليلها، إضافة للأدوار المستجدة لكل من المعلم وولي الأمر والطالب في ظل الظروف الراهنة لفيروس كورونا (كوفيد – 19)، وانعكاساته على مجمل العملية التعليمية والتربوية. وحول تطبيق نظام التعلم عن بعد، قال سعادته: «إن وباء كورونا أدخلنا في تجربة مفيدة ستساعدنا جميعاً في تعزيز التعليم الإلكتروني وتعزيز المسؤولية الشخصية لكل من الطالب والمعلم، وولي الأمر، لأن على الطالب مسؤولية التعلم من أجل رسم مستقبله، وهذا بدوره يعزز ثقافة الدراسة من أجل التعلم وليس من أجل الحصول على الشهادة».

كما أشاد في اللقاء بدور المعلمين وما يقومون به في الظرف الراهن من عمل دؤوب، مؤكداً أن مسؤوليتهم الشخصية تجاه أبنائهم من الطلبة والطالبات قد تضاعفت، وأن التواصل الشخصي عبر نظام التعلم عن بعد أصبح أكثر إلحاحاً من السابق، منوهاً بأن التعلم عن بعد قد وفر للمعلمين فرصة للتقرب من أبنائهم الطلبة، وبناء جسور ثقة معهم تعزز العلاقة فيما بينهم، ليس على المستويات التعليمية والأكاديمية فحسب، بل على المستوى التربوي أيضاً.
