Doha: Dr. Abdul Latif Al-Khal, head of the Communicable Diseases Center at the Hamad Medical Corporation and Chairman of the National Strategic Committee to Address Coronavirus, explained the fact that vaccination against seasonal influenza protects against infection with “Covid-19”.
He said during a telephone interview with the Social Distance program on Qatar TV on Monday evening: It is not known that influenza vaccination protects against Covid-19 … There are some studies that indicate the possibility of this happening, but this has not been proven yet.
He added: But the benefit of influenza vaccination, especially in this season, in addition to that it reduces acute influenza infection and the need for hospitalization, will reduce stress or anxiety that may occur in the event that a person or a family member suffers from influenza, and there is a doubt whether this is Covid or influenza?
He continued: That is why vaccination against seasonal influenza is of particular importance, and theoretically there is a possibility that a person will be infected with influenza and corona at the same time, and this may lead to more complications .. Therefore, vaccination is recommended in this season for the most vulnerable groups.
Dr. Al-Khal indicated that the seasonal influenza vaccination will be available in 27 health centers, in addition to many medical centers and private hospitals, and it will be free of charge.
Today, the Ministry of Health announced the launch of a seasonal influenza vaccination campaign that begins tomorrow in all PHCC health centers of the 27 centers, as well as outpatient clinics of Hamad Medical Corporation and more than 40 semi-governmental and private health facilities, where the vaccine will be provided free of charge to all.
During the press conference held by the ministry, Dr. Al-Khal said that the seasonal influenza vaccination campaign was expanded this year to include a greater number of people due to the continuing Coronavirus epidemic, as the campaign aims to vaccinate about 500 thousand people.

وقال خلال مداخلة عبر الهاتف مع برنامج المسافة الاجتماعية على تلفزيون قطر مساء الإثنين: ليس من المعروف أن تطعيم الأنفلونزا يحمي من كوفيد 19.. هناك بعض الدراسات التي تشير إلى احتمال حدوث ذلك ولكن لم يثبت ذلك حتى الآن.
وأضاف: لكن فائدة تطعيم الأنفلونزا خاصة في هذا الموسم بالإضافة إلى أنه يقلل من الإصابة بالأنفلونزا الحادة والحاجة إلى دخول المستشفى، سيقلل من التوتر أو القلق الذي قد يحدث في حال أصيب الإنسان أو أحد أفراد العائلة بالأنفلونزا ويكون هناك شك هل هذا كوفيد أم أنفلونزا؟
وتابع: لهذا السبب يكتسب التطعيم ضد الأنفلونزا الموسمية أهمية خاصة، ونظرياً هناك احتمال أن يصاب الإنسان بالأنفلونزا وكورونا في نفس الوقت وقد يؤدي هذا إلى مضاعفات أكثر.. لذلك ينصح بأخذ التطعيم في هذا الموسم للفئات الأكثر عرضة.
وأشار الدكتور الخال إلى أن التطعيم ضد الإنفلونزا الموسمية سيكون متوفراً في 27 مركزاً صحياً بالإضافة إلى العديد من المراكز الطبية والمستشفيات الخاصة وسيكون بدون مقابل مادي.
وأعلنت وزارة الصحة اليوم عن إطلاق حملة للتطعيم ضد الإنفلونزا الموسمية تبدأ غداً في كافة المراكز الصحية التابعة لمؤسسة الرعاية الصحية الأولية البالغ عددها 27 مركزاً إلى جانب العيادات الخارجية التابعة لمؤسسة حمد الطبية وأكثر من 40 منشأة صحية شبه حكومية وخاصة، حيث سيتم توفير اللقاح مجاناً للجميع.
وقال الدكتور الخال خلال المؤتمر الصحفي الذي عقدته الوزارة إن حملة التطعيم ضد الإنفلونزا الموسمية تم توسيعها هذا العام لتشمل عدد أكبر من الأشخاص وذلك بسبب استمرار وباء فيروس كورونا، حيث تستهدف الحملة تطعيم حوالي 500 ألف شخص.
