MME allocates five plots for heavy machinery parking

The Ministry of Municipality and Environment represented by Urban Planning Department has allocated five plots of land for heavy machinery parking including trucks, machines and equipment.
Four plots of land are earmarked in Al Rayan Municipality and one in Umm Salal Municipality. At Al Rayan Municipality, one plot of land is allocated in Umm Qarn, two in Bu-Al-Yuwabi and one in Industrial Area. The fifth plot of land is allocated in Bufasila area at Umm Salal Municipality.
The allocations are made in coordination with the authorities concerned, the Ministry said in a report posted on its website. A plot of land was already allocated in the Industrial Support Services Area at Doha Municipality.
The Ministry of Municipality and Environment also said that a proposal is under study to allocate another four plots of land for heavy machinery in Bu-Al Yuwabi at Al Rayan Municipality.
“The new allocated plots of land will provide safe and designated places for parking trucks and heavy equipment,” Abu Mohamad, an expert told The Peninsula. He said that members of Central Municipal Council (CMC) have been raising the issue of providing parking lots for heavy vehicles.
In a session, CMC had recommended to the Ministry of Transport and Communications to provide separate parking lots for heavy vehicles, machines and equipment and asked the Ministry to conduct a feasibility study in this regard.
Residents also had been expressing their resentments through social media and local newspapers for long time against the presence of some heavy vehicles in residential areas.
The public hygiene law No 18 of 2017 prohibits occupying fields and roads with abandoned vehicles, temporary or permanent buildings without taking prior permission from the respective municipality.
In April 2019, the General Monitoring Section of Al Dayeen Municipality caught 40 heavy machines and equipment for occupying public places including fields and roadsides behind Al Khisa Petrol Station.
The action was taken according to the public hygiene law. Last year in March, The Ministry of Transport and Communications had revealed a plan for establishing and developing four truck parking facilities in key areas across the country.
According to the report, the aim of this move was to modernise and improve mobility and transportation services countrywide in accordance with the Qatar Public Transport Program (QPTP). Committed and dedicated to supporting the private sector, The Ministry of Transport and Communications has also provided facilities to the truck freight industry, allowing it to take advantage of the multiple services the project offers.

وقال الخبير أبو محمد لصحيفة ذا بينينسولا: “ستوفر قطع الأرض الجديدة المخصصة أماكن آمنة ومخصصة لشاحنات وقوف السيارات والمعدات الثقيلة”. وقال إن أعضاء المجلس البلدي المركزي قد أثاروا مسألة توفير مواقف للسيارات الثقيلة.
في إحدى الجلسات ، أوصى المجلس البلدي وزارة النقل والاتصالات بتوفير مواقف منفصلة للسيارات والآليات والمعدات الثقيلة وطلب من الوزارة إجراء دراسة جدوى في هذا الصدد.

يحظر قانون النظافة العامة رقم 18 لعام 2017 احتلال الحقول والطرق بالسيارات المهجورة أو المباني المؤقتة أو الدائمة دون الحصول على إذن مسبق من البلدية المعنية.
