Soon in Qatar .. New Corona test reveals result within 10 minutes

Doha: Dr. Inas Al-Kuwari, Head of Medical Laboratories at Hamad Medical Corporation, revealed the adoption of the “Antigen Test” of “Covid – 19” soon in Qatar, which shows the result within ten minutes.

In an interview with Qatar TV’s “Social Distance” program on Monday evening, al-Kuwari said that there are several different tests for the diagnosis of Coronavirus infection: first, there is a “PCR” test, which is the most accurate and is by taking the swab from the mouth and pharynx, and secondly: there is an antibodies examination and it is by taking a blood sample, and third: there is a test for “antigens”, a quick examination by a swab of the nose and then inserting it in the test card and the result appears within 10 minutes.

Antigen test

Al-Kuwari, head of the medical laboratory department at Hamad Medical Corporation, explained that testing antigens is an examination of cases associated with symptoms of high fever, cough and others, and this examination can detect infection within the first week of infection of the virus and with accuracy up to 97%, and pointed out that in addition to the rapid manual antigens test there is an automated antibodies test using special devices.

The head of the medical laboratory department at Hamad Medical Corporation said now we started the pilot phase using these devices in cooperation with some vital departments in the institution where these devices will be available in areas where patients are present without the need to transfer the sample to the laboratory where it will provide a quick result that will lead to the required health care as quickly and better quality.

Al-Kuwari revealed that the manual antigen test, which will soon be available in Qatar, has been evaluated and approved and used by competent healthcare providers, following medical guidelines and protocols for use in cases associated with or similar to symptoms of Coronavirus.

الدوحة: كشفت الدكتورة إيناس الكواري رئيس قسم المختبرات الطبية بمؤسسة حمد الطبية ‎‫  عن اعتماد “فحص المستضدات” الخاص بـ “كوفيد 19” قريباً في قطر والذي يظهر النتيجة خلال عشر دقائق .

وقالت الكواري – في مقابلة مع برنامج “المسافة الاجتماعية” على تليفزيون قطر مساء اليوم الاثنين – إن هناك عدة اختبارات مختلفة لتشخيص العدوى بفيروس كورونا وهي :أولاً هناك فحص “بي سي آر” وهو الأكثر دقة ويكون عن طريق أخذ المسحة من الفم والبلعوم، وثانياً: هناك فحص الأجسام المضادة ويكون عن طريق أخذ عينة من الدم، وثالثاً: هناك فحص الكشف عن “المستضدات”، وهو فحص سريع عن طريق مسحة من الأنف ومن ثم إدخالها لبطاقة الاختبار وتظهر النتيجة خلال 10 دقائق .

فحص المستضدات 

وأوضحت الكواري رئيس قسم المختبرات الطبية بمؤسسة حمد الطبية أن فحص المستضدات هو فحص للحالات المصاحبة لأعراض ارتفاع درجة الحرارة والسعال وغيرها، ويمكن لهذا الفحص الكشف عن الإصابة بالعدوى في خلال الأسبوع الأول من الإصابة بالفيروس وبدقة تصل إلى 97% ، وأشارت إلى أنه بالإضافة إلى فحص المستضدات اليدوي السريع هناك فحص المستضات الآلي باستعمال أجهزة خاصة .

وقالت رئيس قسم المختبرات الطبية بمؤسسة حمد الطبية  حالياً بدأنا المرحلة التجريبية باستخدام هذه الأجهزة بالتعاون مع بعض الأقسام الحيوية في المؤسسة حيث ستتوفر هذه الأجهزة في مناطق تواجد المرضى دون الحاجة لنقل العينة إلى المختبر حيث ستوفر النتيجة السريعة التي ستؤدي إلى الحصول على الرعاية الصحية المطلوبة بأسرع وقت وأفضل جودة .

وكشفت الكواري عن أنه تم تقييم واعتماد فحص المستضدات اليدوي والذي سيتم توفيره قريباً في قطر، على أن يتم استعماله من قبل موفري الرعاية الصحية المختصين متبعين بذلك الإرشادات والبروتوكولات الطبية لاستعماله في الحالات المصاحبة أو المشابهة لأعراض الإصابة بفيروس كورونا.
