Joint campaign removes abandoned cars in Al Sheehaniya Municipality

A joint campaign to remove abandoned cars from different areas in Al Sheehaniya Municipality kicked off on Monday.
The campaign is being carried out by the Committee for Removing Abandoned Vehicles in co-operation with Al Sheehaniya Municipality, the Mechanical Equipment Department at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) and the security authorities concerned, the official Qatar News Agency reported.
The initiative is in line with the MME’s ongoing efforts to curb this phenomenon, implement Law No 18 of 2017 on public hygiene and prevent damage to health and the environment.
A number of officials were present on the occasion, representing the Committee for Removing Abandoned Vehicles, Al Sheehaniya Municipality, the Mechanical Equipment Department and the departments concerned at the Ministry of Interior, the MME said in a statement.
Al Sheehaniya Municipality director Jaber al-Jaber stressed that the campaign comes within the framework of maintaining the aesthetic and civil appearance of public places with the municipality.
He noted that the campaign will continue in co-operation with the relevant parties until the removal abandoned cars from the area is completed. Thanking the participants of the campaign, he called on the owners of violating vehicles to remove such cars as soon as possible.
The deputy head of the Committee for Removing Abandoned Vehicles, Saleh Hassan al-Kuwari, said the campaign targets abandoned vehicles found within the administrative boundaries of Al Sheehaniya Municipality and is being implemented in co-operation with security agencies such as the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya) and the General Directorate of Traffic.
He said the committee, in co-operation with the municipality, had pasted stickers on abandoned vehicles seeking their removal within three days. It also reviewed the procedures involved and finalised preparations before launching the campaign.
Al-Kuwari said the campaign was launched in Doha Municipality recently, where about 200 vehicles had been removed and work was still under way.
It has now begun in Al Sheehaniya Municipality and other municipalities will be covered in the coming period, he added.
Marzouq al-Mesaifir, assistant director of the Mechanical Equipment Department who is also a member of the committee, said about 180-200 abandoned cars have been detected within the boundaries of Al Sheehaniya Municipality.
He noted that the number of vehicles removed by the committee since the beginning of the year has reached about 4,800 in different parts of the country.
The committee removes about 12,000 vehicles annually, he added.
The abandoned cars removed during the campaign will be taken to the Al Mashaf and Mesaimeer impound yards.
انطلقت اليوم، حملة مشتركة لإزالة السيارات المهملة في عدد من مناطق بلدية الشيحانية، تنفذها لجنة إزالة السيارات المهملة بالدولة، بالتعاون مع البلدية وإدارة الأعتدة الميكانيكية بوزارة البلدية والبيئة والجهات الأمنية المعنية، وذلك في إطار جهود الوزارة المتواصلة للحد من هذه الظاهرة التي تشوه المنظر العام، وتطبيقاً لقانون النظافة العامة، فضلا عما تسببه من أضرار صحية وبيئية .
وأكد السيد جابر الجابر مدير بلدية الشيحانية، أن الحملة تأتي في إطار الحرص على المنظر الجمالي والحضاري لبلدية الشيحانية، وقال إنها ستستمر بالتعاون مع الجهات الأخرى ذات الصلة حتى الانتهاء من إزالة السيارات المهملة، داعياً ملاك هذه السيارات لإزالتها في أسرع وقت.
من ناحيته قال السيد صالح حسن الكواري، نائب رئيس لجنة إزالة السيارات المهملة، إن الحملة تستهدف السيارات المهملة المتواجدة داخل الحدود الإدارية لبلدية الشيحانية، مستعرضا الإجراءات والاستعدادات التي سبقت إطلاقها لتشمل فيما بعد عدداً من البلديات الأخرى .
وأوضح السيد مرزوق المسيفري مساعد مدير إدارة الاعتدة الميكانيكية وعضو اللجنة، أنه تم رصد ما يقارب 180 إلى 200 سيارة مهملة في حدود بلدية الشيحانية، مبينا أن عدد السيارات التي رفعتها اللجنة منذ بداية العام الجاري يصل لما يقارب 4800 سيارة مهملة بمختلف مناطق الدولة، ونوه بأن اللجنة تقوم بإزالة حوالي 12 ألف سيارة سنوياً، يتم نقلها إلى وحدة تجميع السيارات المهملة بمنطقتي المشاف ومسيمير لاتخاذ الإجراءات القانونية بشأنها، بعد منحها فترة 6 شهور، يتم التصرف فيها بعد ذلك عن طريق مزاد علني تقوم به الوزارة، أو من خلال مبادرة للشركات المحلية بالتخلص المباشر من السيارات المهملة بتقطيعها لأجل الاستفادة من حديدها .
وتهدف اللجنة المشتركة لإزالة السيارات المهملة بالدولة ، إلى توحيد الجهود لإزالة السيارات المهملة التي تشوه المنظر العام، وتكون عرضة للشبهة في الأماكن المختلفة، علما أنها قامت بجهود كبيرة من حيث رفع وإزالة المركبات المهملة من جميع البلديات، تمثلت في إزالة أكثر من 61500 مركبة مهملة، تم إيداع ما يزيد عن 43 ألف منها في حجز المشاف، وأكثر من 18 ألف مركبة في حجز مسيمير /أبوهامور/، علما أنه بعد تسليم اللجنة عددا من هذه المركبات لأصحابها تبقى حوالي 34 ألف مركبة مهملة منها في حجزي المشاف ومسيمير .
يذكر أن وزارة البلدية والبيئة خصصت موقعاً جديداً لتجميع السيارات المهملة في منطقة المزروعة ضمن الحدود الجغرافية لبلدية أم صلال، ويستوعب من 25 إلى 30 ألف سيارة مهملة .
