Amir’s visit opens new horizons of economic cooperation, Pakistan ambassador

The visit of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani to Pakistan opens new horizons of cooperation in the fields of economy, investment and trade, Pakistan’s Ambassador Syed Ahsan Raza Shah, Saturday said adding that the visit also promotes bilateral relations in all fields.

In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), the ambassador said Qatar and Pakistan enjoy friendly and fraternal relations based on common destiny, heritage, trust and mutual respect, stressing that the people of Pakistan view the Qatari leadership with great appreciation in the light of the mutual and continuous support between the two friendly countries, and the contribution of Pakistani manpower to the progress and development of Qatar.

The Pakistani ambassador stressed the continuous interdependence between the two friendly countries through institutional mechanisms such as bilateral political consultations and the joint ministerial committee, highlighting that the current visit of the Amir to Pakistan may witness the signing of a number of MoUs in the areas of investment, tourism and cooperation in the field of combating money laundering. “Trade will as well be part of bilateral talks.”

He noted that Pakistan’s exports have improved gradually following the blockade imposed on Qatar in June 2017. Pakistan’s exports of goods increased to $90mn during the period from July 2017 to June 2018, compared to $52mn for the same period in 2016.

Over the past year, special efforts have been made to boost Pakistan’s exports of services to Qatar, he said explaining that from 1 July 2018 to 30 April 2019 Pakistan’s exports of goods and services amounted to $146.457mn compared to $96.138mn in the corresponding period of the previous year,, which represents an increase of 52.34%.

He pointed out that Pakistan’s imports from Qatar in the period July 2018 to April 2019 amounted to $1.556bn compared to $998.53mn in the corresponding period of the previous year, which represents a growth of 55.84%. He stressed that the balance of trade is still in favour of Qatar because of Pakistan’s increasing imports of liquefied natural gas and petroleum products.

The envoy attributed the increase in Pakistan’s exports to the expansion of the food, construction and Fintech in Qatar which seeks self-sufficiency and proactively seeks alternative sources of imports of goods and services. He pointed out that the cooperation in these areas is on the rise and Pakistani companies are having lots of opportunities in the Qatari market.

There are about 700 to 800 Qatari-Pakistani companies working in infrastructure development in Qatar, he said and noted the link between Hamad Port and Karachi Port.

On opportunities for Qatari investments in Pakistan, the ambassador identified power generation, hospitality, real estate , petrochemical and strategic industries as the most important sectors.

أكد سعادة السيد سيد أحسن رضا شاه سفير جمهورية باكستان الإسلامية لدى الدولة أن الزيارة التاريخية التي يقوم بها حضرة صاحب السمو الشيخ تميم بن حمد آل ثاني أمير البلاد المفدى، إلى باكستان تفتح آفاقا جديدة للتعاون بين البلدين في القطاعات الاقتصادية والتجارية والاستثمارية، وتعزز العلاقات الثنائية في جميع المجالات.

ولفت سعادته، في تصريحات خاصة لوكالة الأنباء القطرية “قنا”، إلى أن دولة قطر وباكستان تتمتعان بعلاقات ودية وأخوية تقوم على المصير والتراث المشتركين والثقة والاحترام المتبادلين.. مشددا على أن شعب باكستان ينظر إلى القيادة القطرية بتقدير كبير في ظل الدعم المتبادل والمتواصل بين البلدين الصديقين، ومساهمة القوى العاملة الباكستانية في تقدم وتطور دولة قطر وبناء نهضتها الحالية في جميع القطاعات.

وشدد سعادة السفير الباكستاني على الترابط المستمر بين البلدين الصديقين من خلال الآليات المؤسسية، مثل المشاورات السياسية الثنائية واللجنة الوزارية المشتركة.. مؤكدا أن الزيارة الحالية لسمو الأمير المفدى لباكستان قد تشهد توقيع عدد من مذكرات التفاهم في مجالات الاستثمار والسياحة والتعاون في مجال مكافحة غسل الأموال، كما ستكون التجارة ضمن محاور المباحثات الثنائية.

وبين سعادته أن أرقام الصادرات الباكستانية تحسنت تدريجيا في أعقاب الحصار المفروض على دولة قطر منذ يونيو 2017، حيث زادت صادرات باكستان من البضائع لتصل إلى ما قيمته 90 مليون دولار أمريكي خلال الفترة من يوليو 2017 إلى يونيو 2018، مقارنة بـ 52 مليون دولار خلال نفس الفترة من عام 2016، بزيادة قدرها 70.53 بالمائة من صادرات البضائع الباكستانية إلى دولة قطر.

وأوضح أنه على مدار العام الماضي، بذلت جهود خاصة لتعزيز صادرات باكستان من الخدمات إلى قطر فمن 1 يوليو 2018 إلى 30 أبريل 2019، حيث بلغت صادرات باكستان من السلع والخدمات 146.457 مليون دولار مقارنة بمبلغ 96.138 مليون دولار في الفترة المقابلة من العام السابق، بزيادة 52.34 بالمائة.

ولفت سعادة السفير الباكستاني إلى أن واردات باكستان من قطر (من يوليو 2018 إلى أبريل 2019) بلغت 1.556 مليار دولار مقارنة بـ 998.53 مليون دولار في الفترة المقابلة من العام السابق، مما يمثل نموا بنسبة 55.84 بالمائة، مؤكدا أن الميزان التجاري لا يزال في صالح قطر بسبب الواردات المتزايدة من الغاز الطبيعي المسال والمنتجات البترولية.

وأرجع سعادته الزيادة الكبيرة في الصادرات الباكستانية إلى افتتاح قطاعات سوق المواد الغذائية والبناء و”فاينتك” القطرية حيث تسعى قطر لتحقيق الاكتفاء الذاتي وتسعى بشكل استباقي لمصادر بديلة لواردات السلع والخدمات إلى قطر.. مشيرا إلى أن التعاون في هذه المجالات آخذ في الارتفاع، بفضل شعور الشركات الباكستانية بالكثير من الفرص في السوق القطرية.

وتابع بأن هناك ما بين 700 إلى 800 شركة باكستانية – قطرية تعمل في دولة قطر وتسهم في تطوير البنية التحتية في الدولة، إضافة إلى الربط بين ميناء حمد وميناء “كراتشي” وتدير هذا الربط شركتان هما “ون هو” و “ملاحة” روابط الشحن للتجارة الثنائية بين البلدين الصديقين.

واستعرض سعادة السيد سيد أحسن رضا شاه سفير جمهورية باكستان الإسلامية لدى الدولة فرص الاستثمارات القطرية في باكستان وأهمها قطاعات توليد الطاقة والضيافة والاستثمار العقاري والصناعات البتروكيماوية والاستراتيجية.. مؤكدا أن التعاون الثنائي على مستوى القيادة يجلب النفع الكبير ويفتح المزيد من سبل تعزيز التعاون الجديدة.
