QRCS Provides Shelters for Vulnerable Families in Mongolia

Doha: Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has implemented a coronavirus (COVID-19) response project in Mongolia, aiming at supporting the vulnerable families affected by the pandemic, within the framework a large-scale program to support coronavirus control efforts in 22 countries around the world.

The $20,000 project involves providing shelter and nonfood items for the poor families that lost their homes due to lack if income, amid lockdown and precautionary measures. The beneficiaries were selected by Mongolias Ministry of Labor and Social Protection.

According to progress reports, the contracted traditional shelters and the household items were purchased under a public tender and delivered as per the announced specifications. A total of 28 families, or around 200 persons, benefited from the project in many parts of the country, including Ulaanbaatar City, Sukhbaatar Province, and Khentii Province.

QRCSs initiative to back the fellow National Societies in 22 countries across six continents is aimed at protecting 320,000 persons against the virus. These countries are: Palestine, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Nepal, Tajikistan, Mongolia, Laos, Vanuatu, Ethiopia, Chad, Senegal, Mauritania, Ivory Coast, Mali, Sierra Leone, Albania, Kosovo, Montenegro, Venezuela, El Salvador, Peru, and Panama.

The list of activities conducted by QRCS in support of those countries includes provision of equipment and supplies for health facilities, provision of medicines and medical supplies, protection for medical professionals and volunteers, provision of food and shelter for families worst affected by loss of income, and provision of protective supplies (masks, gloves, sanitizers, etc.).

الدوحة: أعلن الهلال الأحمر القطري عن تنفيذه لمشروع الاستجابة لجائحة /كوفيد-19/ في منغوليا، بالتعاون مع الصليب الأحمر المنغولي، والذي يهدف إلى دعم الأسر الضعيفة المتضررة من الجائحة، ضمن البرنامج الإنساني الموسع لدعم جهود مكافحة فيروس كورونا في 22 بلدا حول العالم.

ويتضمن المشروع توفير الإيواء والمستلزمات المعيشية للأسر الفقيرة التي فقدت منازلها بسبب توقف الدخل الناتج عن إجراءات العزل الصحي وإغلاق الأسواق والمتاجر احترازيا. وقد تم التنفيذ بالشراكة مع الصليب الأحمر المنغولي، واختيار المستفيدين بالتنسيق مع وزارة العمل والحماية الاجتماعية في منغوليا.

وبحسب تقارير الإنجاز، فقد تم الانتهاء من توريد المساكن التقليدية المنغولية المتعاقد عليها، بناء على مناقصة علنية لاختيار الشركة الموردة وفق المواصفات الموضوعة.

واستفادت من هذا المشروع 28 أسرة تضم قرابة 200 شخص في عدة مناطق رئيسية مثل مدينة أولان باتور، ومحافظة سوخباتار، ومحافظة خينتي.

يذكر أن هذا المشروع يندرج ضمن المبادرة التي أطلقها الهلال الأحمر القطري للاستجابة الطارئة لجائحة فيروس كورونا في 22 دولة موزعة على 6 قارات حول العالم، عبر دعم جهود الجمعيات الوطنية العاملة في جهود الاستجابة، لفائدة أكثر من 320,000 شخص في البلدان الآتية: فلسطين، أفغانستان، باكستان، نيبال، طاجيكستان، منغوليا، لاوس، فانواتو، إثيوبيا، تشاد، السنغال، موريتانيا، ساحل العاج، مالي، سيراليون، ألبانيا، كوسوفو، الجبل الأسود، فنزويلا، السلفادور، بيرو، بنما.

وتتعدد أوجه الدعم المقدم من الهلال الأحمر القطري للجمعيات الوطنية الزميلة، ما بين دعم المؤسسات الصحية بالأجهزة والمعدات اللازمة، وتوفير الأدوية والمستهلكات الطبية، وتعزيز حماية الكوادر الطبية والمتطوعين، وتوفير الغذاء والمأوى للأسر الأشد تضررا من انقطاع الدخل، وتوفير وسائل الوقاية من الكمامات والقفازات والمعقمات وغيرها.
