Tasmanian animals return to Australia 3,000 years later

Sydney: The Tasmanian Devil, the world’s largest surviving carnivorous marsupial, returned to mainland Australia for the first time in 3,000 years. The Tasmanian devil is an animal the size of a small dog and was named in 2008 on the United Nations Red List of Endangered Animals. The animal is best known for the character of Taz in the animated series Looney Tunes.
