Qatar Participates in Special Session of WHO Executive Board on the Response to COVID-19 Pandemic

Doha: Qatar participated in the special session of the WHO Executive Board on the response to the COVID-19 pandemic, which was concluded on Tuesday.
The Delegation of Qatar at the special session was chaired by HE Minister of Public Health Dr. Hanan Mohammed Al-Kuwari, via remote communication technology.
During the two-day session, the Executive Board discussed several important topics, most notably updated information on the implementation of resolutions related to the response to the Covid-19 pandemic. The Director-General of WHO provided a summary of the WHOs activities since January 2020 in response to the pandemic, and the steps taken to ensure lessons are learned and best practices are implemented as the pandemic develops.
Updated information was also provided by the co-chairs for the Independent Panel for Pandemic Preparedness and Response, the Chairman of the International Health Regulations Review Committee and the Chairman of the Independent Oversight and Advisory Committee for the WHO Health Emergencies Programme.
The main functions of the Executive Board are to give effect to the decisions and policies of the Health Assembly, to advise it and generally to facilitate its work.

الدوحة: شاركت دولة قطر في الجلسة الاستثنائية للمجلس التنفيذي لمنظمة الصحة العالمية حول الاستجابة لجائحة /كوفيد-19/ والتي اختتمت اليوم.
ترأست وفد قطر في الجلسة الاستثنائية سعادة الدكتورة حنان محمد الكواري وزير الصحة العامة، وذلك من خلال تقنية الاتصال عن بعد.
وبحث المجلس التنفيذي خلال الجلسة والتي انعقدت على مدى يومين ، عددا من الموضوعات الهامة ومن أبرزها معلومات محدثة عن تنفيذ القرارات المتعلقة بشأن الاستجابة لجائحة /كوفيد-19/، حيث قدم المدير العام لمنظمة الصحة العالمية موجزا للأنشطة التي اضطلعت بها المنظمة منذ يناير 2020 استجابة للجائحة، والخطوات التي اتخذت لضمان استخلاص الدروس المناسبة وتنفيذ أفضل الممارسات مع تطور جائحة كورونا.
كما تم تقديم معلومات محدثة من الرئيستين المشاركتين للفريق المستقل المعني بالتأهب والاستجابة للجائحة، ورئيس لجنة المراجعة المعنية باللوائح الصحية الدولية، ورئيس اللجنة الاستشارية المستقلة للرقابة المعنية ببرنامج المنظمة للطوارئ الصحية.
يذكر أن المجلس التنفيذي لمنظمة الصحة العالمية يختص بإنفاذ ما تقرره جمعية الصحة العالمية وسياساتها، وإسداء المشورة إليها، والعمل على تيسير عملها.
