6 Rules ensuring that Coronavirus restrictions are not reimposed

Al Raya – WGOQatar Translations

Doha: A number of citizens stressed that the awareness of the community and adherence to precautionary measures is a safety valve for the prevention of corona, pointing to 6 basic rules to ensure the elimination of the epidemic and not to reimpose restrictions if recommended by ministry of health, referring to the statement of the Supreme Committee for Crisis Management several days ago, explaining that these rules include social distancing and avoidance of incautious mixing, protection of the elderly and those with chronic diseases, wearing muzzles, washing hands and seeking help through the hotline when symptoms appear, as well as the continuation of mandatory quarantine policy for all returning to Qatar until further notice, and continue to update the list of low-risk countries by Health.

They stressed in special statements to al-Raya that the awareness of the community contributes to the commitment to the precautionary measures set by the competent authorities to stop the spread of the coronavirus, pointing out that the past phase witnessed a good commitment resulting in a decrease in the number of daily infections with the virus, but with the return of winter there are fears of the re-spread of the virus, which requires more adherence to precautionary measures in schools, public places and work in order to support the efforts carried out by the Ministry of Health and competent authorities to reduce the spread of the virus and control the disease to the the elimination of the virus once and for all.

Ibrahim Al-Ibrahim: Compliance with precautionary measures is a national duty

Ibrahim al-Ibrahim stressed the importance of adhering to precautionary measures such as wearing muzzles, washing hands, sterilizing and avoiding crowded places, visits and family gatherings, because the harm will be done to everyone from non-compliance.

He added: There is nothing wrong with seeing the relatives, but this is in accordance with the conditions and preventive controls established by the Ministry of Health such as social spacing, wearing muzzles, leaving a safe distance and staying away from gatherings to preserve yourself, your family, your community and your country, although we prefer to avoid visits and gatherings as much as possible.

He pointed out that modern technology has brought people closer and can be used to communicate with family and friends and avoid family visits and social gatherings to reduce the spread of the epidemic.

Al-Ibrahim stressed the need to abide by the precautionary and preventive measures approved by the Ministry of Health and other stakeholders, which is strongly needed at this stage, because the epidemic is not over and people who think the epidemic is over come out and mix with this and that, these are the first to harm themselves, their families and their community, especially since there are patients who do not show any symptoms and do not know that they are infected, so compliance with precautionary measures is a national duty to overcome this stage in peace.

Nasser al-Suwaidi: Incautious social mixing is dangerous

Engineer Nasser Al Suwaidi says: The best way to prevent Corona infection is to maintain social spacing and wash hands with soap and water continuously, and clean and cleanse surfaces that are touched repeatedly at home and work, and explained that social spacing is a precautionary measure intended to stay away from the people around as much as possible, so that the chances of transmission and the spread of the emerging coronavirus disappear further.

He added: Family members inside the house should follow preventive means of washing hands and not sharing personal tools, especially in the case of a person who leaves the house on a daily basis to go to work, pointing out that social spacing is necessary because the person infected with the virus when coughing spreads a spray loaded with the virus, transmits infection to others when they inhale the spray, adding that social spacing is a necessity even among family members, not only outside, in order to protect against all infectious viral diseases and not only Covid-19.

Saeed Al Hajri: Updating the list of countries is a safety factor for people

Saeed Rashid al-Hajri said: We appreciate the great efforts made by the state in all its institutions to confront the coronavirus, which is a global epidemic, and said there are low-risk and high-risk countries, not given the real figures about the extent of the spread of the virus and this is confirmed by the World Health Organization and therefore we have to be more careful and aware in order to limit the spread of the virus and avoid a second wave of the disease.

He added: We support the continuous update of the list of low and high-risk countries by the Ministry of Public Health because it is very important, especially since this is a global epidemic and will continue for a long time, especially since a percentage of travelers returning to Doha found after the test that they were infected with the virus and thus constantly updating the list will alert the citizen or resident wishing to travel to the level or risk ratio in this or that country so as to avoid traveling to it with the need to comply with precautionary measures.

Al-Hajri called for not to travel in this period unless it is absolutely necessary and avoid travel to high-risk countries, especially since the second wave of the epidemic is beginning to appear in a number of European countries in a frightening way and we have to take care and abide by the instructions of the state and the concerned authorities in this regard to avoid a second wave.

Khaled Al Kaabi: Mandatory quarantine for returnees is the first line of defense

Khaled Abdul Rahman al-Kaabi said that the state, with all its different agencies, is making extraordinary efforts to reduce the spread of the virus, so we citizens and residents have a duty to abide by the precautionary measures approved by the state because it is the only way to eliminate the disease and return to normal life.

He said: We certainly trust every action taken by the Supreme Committee for Crisis Management, and therefore we, with the continuation of the mandatory quarantine for all returnees from abroad until further notice to avoid the spread of the disease further, stressing that applying mandatory quarantine for returnees from abroad protects the community from the disease and limits its spread, especially that one individual can infect not only his family members but also surrounding contacts with him, whether they are relatives or work colleagues and workers, to find in the end that one individual has infected 25 others is dangerous, so we support the continuation of mandatory quarantine for returnees from abroad to protect the community and reduce the spread of the virus.

He pointed out that the announcement of the Supreme Committee for Crises of a three-phase plan to reimpose some restrictions if recommended by the Ministry of Public Health came to limit the spread of the virus and this depends on the awareness of the people and their commitment to precautionary measures to cross this stage safely until a vaccine appears to cure the epidemic.

Mohammed Al-Khayaren: Early testing facilitates treatment

Mohammed Saleh Al-Khayaren, a member of the municipal council for the 16th district, said that anyone suffering from the symptoms of the coronavirus should immediately call the hotline allocated to the Ministry of Public Health on 16000 or go to one of the Covid-19 testing centers, stressing that the early detection of the virus will facilitate the process of treatment and recovery, pointing out that there are symptoms to be noticed such as fever, cough or difficulty breathing and the person who suffers from them may be infected with the virus and he/she should be tested immediately, and chills, muscle pains, headaches, sore throat, stomach problems, loss of taste and smell can also be a symptom of Covid-19, explaining that early testing is critical to slowing the spread of the virus, and it is necessary to ensure that people are still in the early stages of the disease before their condition deteriorates and becomes more complex. He adds: Anyone with symptoms of Covid-19 should call the helpline on 16000 or go directly to one of the designated health centres for the necessary tests, and these four centers are: Rawdat Al-Khail, Muaither and Al Rayyan, which operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and Umm Slal, which operates from 7 am to 11 pm 7 days a week. Early detection contributes to easy access to treatment and rapid recovery.

Youssef Al Mutawa: Protecting the elderly and those with chronic diseases is a priority

Youssef Mohammed al-Mutawa called for making every effort to reduce the risk of older people being exposed to Coronavirus infection, by following some simple precautions that help protect them from the disease, such as washing hands constantly, avoiding crowded places, reducing staying in public places, reducing contact with others, and staying at home in case of illness, stressing the need to work hard to protect the health of this group of society that is more vulnerable to diseases than others, and most importantly to stay in isolation from them if the average person has become ill or in contact with sick people, he said, stressing that reducing the chances of older people being infected with MERS-CoV is of great importance, but it is also important not to hold them hostage to social isolation as modern technology has created the environment and appropriate solutions to overcome this issue. He said: The use of the Internet and social media by the elderly and teaching them how to do so is very important in this period because reducing mixing with others does not mean total isolation, but smart solutions must be found to maintain effective communication with older people and create plans to ensure that this group does not fall into total social isolation.
