“Majlis – Cultures in Dialogue” Traveling Exhibition Reaches Fifth Global Stop

Madrid: The “Majlis – Cultures in Dialogue” traveling cross-cultural exhibition has arrived in Spain, its fifth world stop, where it is exhibiting its holdings at the National Archaeological Museum in Madrid until Jan. 17.
The Spanish capital, Madrid, is the fifth stop for the exhibition in its global journey that began in 2018 from Valletta, Republic of Malta, then the headquarters of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the Institute for the Arab World in the French capital, Paris, and recently the Museum of Ethnology in the Austrian capital, Vienna.
The “Majlis – Cultures in Dialogue” exhibition includes unique collections from the Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al-Thani Museum (FBQ Museum), and displays a distinctive collection of art and antiquities that reflect the historical interaction of cultures, and encourage dialogue in the present through open discussion sessions between visitors.
The exhibition, which was launched by Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al-Thani Museum in cooperation with the UNESCO office in Doha and with the support of Qatar Shell and Al Faisal Holding Company, aims to stimulate dialogue between cultures, religions, and countries. Also, it gives an opportunity for visitors to spend time in the Majlis and listen to stories, and discuss their views, and exchange of their impressions about the exhibition as part of the cultural dialogue, in addition to identifying commonalities between different cultures.
The National Archaeological Museum in Madrid is the ideal location for the exhibition “Majlis – Cultures in Dialogue”, as it was designed to create strong and lasting cultural ties with the development of constructive dialogue between the Arab world, Spain, and Europe, including introducing the next generation to the wonderful forms of art and rich culture that Qatar exhibits, by making the event available to school children and college students.
Commenting on the exhibition’s reaching its fifth stop in Madrid, HE Chairman of the FBQ Museum’s Board of Trustees Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al-Thani said that the message of the traveling cross-cultural exhibition is to spread the message of peace and prosperity, understanding of multiple cultures, and belief in coexistence and the values of tolerance.
He added, “We want through this exhibition to focus on the similarities that bind us as humans of different religions and cultures, these goals are ideally reached through the artifacts that we have chosen to display in the National Archaeological Museum. This will help preserve the history, culture, and traditions for future generations to learn and benefit from them, in addition to helping to strengthen and sustain cultural dialogue in the various countries that we will visit.”
HE Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain to the State of Qatar Belen Alvaro Hernandez said that the exhibition connects people and cultures through dialogue, and highlights the cultural ties and cooperation between Qatar and Spain, adding that the exhibition promotes Arab heritage and the legacy of Andalusia, which remains through the historical buildings in cities such as Granada, Cordoba, and Seville in Spain.
Director of UNESCO Regional Office in Doha Anna Paolini said that previous exhibitions in Malta and UNESCO headquarters in Paris have demonstrated that art and culture are important in achieving peace and prosperity in the world, stressing that the “Majlis – Cultures in Dialogue” exhibition is a good example for that.
She added that the exhibition helped in introducing the rich Qatari history to the world.

الدوحة: وصل المعرض الثقافي المتنقل /المجلس – حوار الثقافات/، محطته العالمية الخامسة، إسبانيا، حيث يعرض في المتحف الأثري الوطني بمدريد، مقتنياته حتى 17 من يناير المقبل.
وتعدّ العاصمة الإسبانية، مدريد، محطة المعرض الخامسة في رحلته العالمية التي بدأت عام 2018 من مدينة /فاليتا/ بجمهورية مالطا، ثم مقر منظمة الأمم المتحدة للتربية والعلم والثقافة /اليونسكو/ ومعهد العالم العربي في العاصمة الفرنسية، باريس، ومؤخرا متحف /والت Welt/ في العاصمة النمساوية، فيينا.
ويضم /المجلس – حوار الثقافات/ مقتنيات فريدة من متحف الشيخ فيصل بن قاسم آل ثاني، ويعرض مجموعة مميزة من القطع الفنية والأثرية التي تعكس تفاعل الثقافات تاريخياً، وتشجّع على الحوار في الحاضر من خلال حلقات النقاش المفتوحة بين الزوار.
ويهدف المعرض الذي أطلقه متحف الشيخ فيصل بن قاسم آل ثاني بالتعاون مع مكتب /اليونسكو/ في الدوحة وبدعم من شركة شل قطر وشركة الفيصل القابضة، إلى تحفيز الحوار بين الثقافات والأديان والدول، حيث يعطي فرصة للزوار لقضاء بعض الوقت في المجلس والاستماع إلى القصص، ومناقشة مشاهداتهم وتبادل انطباعاتهم حول المعرض كجزء من الحوار الثقافي، بالإضافة إلى التعرف على القواسم المشتركة بين الثقافات المختلفة.
ويعد المتحف الأثري الوطني في مدريد، المكان المثالي لمعرض /المجلس – حوار الثقافات/، حيث تم تصميمه لخلق روابط ثقافية قوية ودائمة مع تنمية الحوار البناء بين العالم العربي وإسبانيا وأوروبا، وبضمنها تعريف الجيل القادم بأشكال الفن الرائعة والثقافة القوية التي تعرضها قطر، من خلال التركيز على إتاحة الحدث لأطفال المدارس وطلاب الجامعات.
وقال سعادة الشيخ فيصل بن قاسم آل ثاني رئيس مجلس أمناء المتحف، في تعليق له على انتقال المعرض إلى محطته الخامسة بمدريد، إن رسالة المعرض المتنقل متعدد الثقافات هي نشر رسالة السلام والازدهار وفهم الثقافات المتعددة والإيمان بالتعايش وقيم التسامح.
وأضاف “نريد من خلال هذا المعرض التركيز على أوجه التشابه التي تربطنا كبشر من ديانات وثقافات مختلفة، يتم الوصول الى هذه الأهداف بشكل مثالي من خلال القطع الأثرية التي اخترناها لعرضها في المتحف الأثري الوطني. وسيساعد ذلك في الحفاظ على التاريخ والثقافة والتقاليد للأجيال القادمة للتعلم والاستفادة منها، بالإضافة إلى المساعدة في تعزيز واستدامة الحوار الثقافي في مختلف البلدان التي سنزورها”.
من جهتها قالت سعادة السيدة بيلين ألفارو سفيرة مملكة إسبانيا لدى الدولة، بأن المعرض يربط بين الناس والثقافات من خلال الحوار، ويسلط الضوء على الروابط الثقافية والتعاون الثقافي بين قطر وإسبانيا، كما تعزز روح المعرض التراث العربي وإرث الأندلس، الذي يبقى من خلال المباني التاريخية في مدن مثل غرناطة وقرطبة وإشبيلية، في إسبانيا في العصور الوسطى.
من جانبها قالت الدكتورة آنا باوليني مديرة مكتب /اليونسكو/ في الدوحة، إن المعارض السابقة في مالطا ومقر اليونسكو في باريس أثبتت أن للفن والثقافة أهميتهما في تحقيق السلام والازدهار على مستوى العالم.. “إن هدفنا الراسخ المتمثل في جعل هذا الأمر مثمرًا من خلال المتاحف لم يكن /المجلس – حوار الثقافات/ إلا خير دليل عليه”.
وأضافت “لقد مكن ارتباطنا بهذه المبادرة الفريدة من خلال متاحف الشيخ فيصل بن قاسم آل ثاني، من رسم مسار لا مثيل له في استكشاف تاريخ قطر الغني وتقديمه إلى الناس في جميع أنحاء العالم
