HIA hosts Salalah team

Hamad International Airport (HIA) welcomed a delegation from Salalah International Airport (SLL) and held a tour of the airport premise as part of the co-operation and alignment between the two airports in the areas of security and customs.

Through the tour, the delegation learned about HIA’s facilities, cutting-edge technology and visited the cargo terminal to familiarise itself with its operations ahead of the opening of the cargo terminal at SLL.

HIA, which received the ‘Best Airport in the Middle East’ 2018 Skytrax award, began the tour at the departures terminal where members of the SLL delegation observed the automated check-in machines and the security techniques used to access the boarding gates.

SLL guests also visited HIA’s two-story cargo facility, covering 55,000 square meters, which handled 2mn tonnes of cargo in 2017.

The tour continued to Al Safwa First Class Lounge, Oryx Airport Hotel and Vitality Wellness Centre, which features a 25m swimming pool, a gym, two squash courts and a spa.

SLL guests were also shown HIA’s cutting edge technology developed in support of the smart airport programme, ranging from self-service check-in and baggage drop kiosks to HIA’s fully automated baggage systems as well as security screening in transit areas; all of which contribute towards the airport’s commitment in providing a seamless travel experience to its passengers and maintaining world-class standards of safety and security.

HIA further showcased services it offers passengers such as the dual passenger train service, which connects the south node of the terminal with concourses A and B with north node of the terminal, with concourses D and E as well as the award-winning Qatar Duty Free offering 40,000 square metres of combined retail, food and beverage options.

Guests also were shown some of the pieces from HIA’s Art programme such as the newly installed ‘Cosmos’ by French artist Jean-Michel Othoniel as well as ‘Small Lie’ by American artist KAWS.

The past few years has seen a stronger collaboration between Qatar and Oman within the air transport industry.

In 2017, HIA welcomed Oman’s carrier Salam Air, the Sultanate’s first budget airline, to its network of airlines. The new route offers travellers convenient timing, affordable travel alternatives and connectivity to a wider network of destinations.

Qatar Airways, Qatar’s national carrier, also started its first non-stop flight from Doha to Sohar last year, which made it its third destination in the Sultanate after Muscat and Salalah.

بدأت جولة الوفد في مطار حمد الدولي -الحاصل على جائزة «أفضل مطار في الشرق الأوسط» من «سكاي تراكس» العالمية لعام 2018- في منطقة المغادرين، حيث تعرّف الضيوف على أجهزة التسجيل الذاتي على الرحلات وتقنيات الأمن المتبعة حتى الوصول إلى بوابات المغادرة. كما زار الوفد مبنى الشحن الجوي المكون من طبقتين والممتد على مساحة 55.000 متر مربع، والذي تعامل مع ما يقارب من مليوني طن من البضائع في العام 2017. وزار الوفد أيضاً صالة الصفوة لمسافري الدرجة الأولى، وفندق «أوريكس» المطار، ومركز «ڤيتاليتي» للصحة واللياقة الذي يضم مسبحاً بطول 25 متراً ونادياً للياقة البدنية وملعبي اسكواش ومنتجعا صحياً.

وبهذه المناسبة، قال السيد عبدالعزيز الماس، نائب الرئيس التنفيذي للعمليات التجارية والتسويق في مطار حمد الدولي: «سعدنا بالترحيب بمسؤولي مطار صلالة الدولي ومشاركة الخبرات العملية في إدارة عمليات المطار بسلاسة مع الحفاظ على أعلى مستويات الأمن والسلامة. إننا ملتزمون بمواصلة التعاون للمساهمة الفعالة في النهوض بقطاع الطيران».

تقنيات متطورة

واطّلع وفد مطار صلالة الدولي على أحدث التقنيات المتطورة التي تدعم برنامج المطار الذكي من الخدمة الذاتية، في مكاتب تسجيل المسافرين، وأكشاك تسجيل الأمتعة، إلى أنظمة تسجيل الأمتعة الأوتوماتيكية بالكامل، والفحص الأمني في مناطق تحويل الرحلات. وتمثّل جميع هذه الخدمات المتاحة التزام المطار بمنح المسافرين تجربة سفر سلسة والحفاظ على معايير أمن وسلامة بمستوى عالمي.

واستعرض مطار حمد الدولي الخدمات التي يقدّمها للمسافرين، مثل خدمة نقل المسافرين باستخدام القطار المزدوج الذي يربط الجزء الجنوبي من المبنى الذي يضم الممر «A» و»B» مع الجزء الشمالي للمبنى الذي يضم الممر «D» و»E»، فضلاً عن السوق الحرة -الحائزة على جوائز عالمية- والتي تمتد على مساحة 40.000 متر مربع، وتضم خيارات متنوعة من محالّ بيع التجزئة والمطاعم والمقاهي. وتعرّف الضيوف على بعض القطع الفنية الموجودة ضمن برنامج الفنون في مطار حمد الدولي، من بينها أحدث تحفة فنية أُضيفت إلى المطار، كوزموس «الكون»، للفنان الفرنسي جان ميشيل أوثونيل، والتحفة الفنية «أكذوبة» للفنان الأميركي KAWS.

شهدت السنوات القليلة الماضية تعاوناً وثيقاً بين دولة قطر وسلطنة عمان في مجال النقل الجوي. وفي عام 2017، أُضيفت أول شركة طيران اقتصادي في سلطنة عُمان «طيران السلام» إلى قائمة الخطوط الجوية التي يستقبلها مطار حمد الدولي، حيث يوفر هذا المسار الجديد المزيد من الرحلات بمواعيد مناسبة وبأسعار معقولة، كما يتيح فرصة متابعة الرحلات عبر شبكة واسعة من الوجهات. كذلك باشرت الخطوط الجوية القطرية بتسيير رحلاتها إلى مطار صحار، ثالث وجهات الناقلة القطرية في السلطنة بعد مسقط وصلالة.;
