QNL poetry session to feature eminent poets
«المكتبة الوطنية» تستضيف أمسية شعرية في حب قطر
Celebrated Qatari poets will take part in a poetry night at Qatar National Library (QNL) on December 15 and recite verses in two common traditions, Faseeh and Nabati.
Mohamed Yasin, Zainab Almahmood, Nasser al-Wobair and Hamad al-Braidi will take part in the recital to be moderated by presenter Saoud al-Maadeed.
“Literature is an integral part of Qatari heritage, and poems are known to have been written and recited across the wider region for centuries,” said Haya al-Sheeb, information services librarian at QNL. “The event is an opportunity for visitors to know more about Qatari culture and values through listening to and reading local poetry.”
For those who wish to further their interest in Qatari poetry, the Heritage Library holds a collection of poems written by Sheikh Jassim, the founder of Qatar. The library’s visitors are welcome to see and read his collection of poetry, called a Diwan. The collection contains a number of Nabati poems, which is a colloquial form of Arabic poetry.
Entitled ‘For the Love of Qatar,’ the event is part of the library’s month-long celebration of Qatar National Day, which highlights the nation’s proud history, traditions and culture.
The event will commence at 5.30pm at QNL’s special events area.
تنظم مكتبة قطر الوطنية، يوم السبت المقبل، الموافق 15 ديسمبر الحالي، أمسية شعرية تحت اسم «في حب قطر»، ضمن فعالياتها الاحتفالية بمناسبة اليوم الوطني للدولة الممتدة على مدار الشهر، بهدف تعريف جمهور المكتبة بتاريخ قطر وثقافتها وتقاليدها العريقة.
تبدأ الأمسية في الخامسة والنصف في منطقة الفعاليات الخاصة بمقر المكتبة، ويشارك فيها الشعراء محمد ياسين، وزينب المحمود، وناصر الوبير، وحمد البريدي، ويديرها الإعلامي سعود المعاضيد.
من جهتها، قالت هيا الشيب، أخصائية المعلومات في المكتبة، إن الشعر جزء لا يتجزأ من التراث القطري، ولطالما تناقلت الألسن قصائد الشعر وروتها وأذاعتها في كل ربوع العالم العربي لقرون عديدة متعاقبة، لافتة إلى أن الأمسية الشعرية سوف تمنح الحاضرين فرصة لمعرفة المزيد عن ثقافة قطر وتراثها من خلال قصائد شعرية أبدعتها قرائح شعراء قطريين خفقت قلوبهم بحب الوطن».;
