MENAFATF Elects Qatar to Co-Chair Technical Assistance Task Force

Manama: Middle East North Africa Financial Action Task Force (MENAFATF), during its 36th general meeting, which is was held in Manama, elected the State of Qatar as Co-Chair of the Technical Assistance and Applications Team for a two-year term. Secretary of the National Committee for Combating Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing Issa Mohammed Al Hardan is Qatar’s Represent6ative in the position.
The Technical Assistance and Applications Working Group is concerned with studying the methods, trends and indicators of money laundering, terrorist financing, and proliferation financing in the Middle East and North Africa region, and coordinating the provision of training and capacity building for member states, in cooperation with international organizations and other donors.
The election of the State of Qatar is another testament to the confidence of the international community in Qatar’s national authorities concerned with combating money laundering and terrorist financing.

المنامة: انتخبت مجموعة العمل المالي لمنطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال إفريقيا، خلال اجتماعها العام الذي عقد على مدى خمسة أيام، دولة قطر للرئاسة المشتركة لفريق عمل المساعدات الفنية والتطبيقات لمدة سنتين، ممثلة بالسيد عيسى محمد الحردان أمين سر اللجنة الوطنية لمكافحة غسل الأموال وتمويل الإرهاب.
ويعنى فريق عمل المساعدات الفنية والتطبيقات بدراسة أساليب واتجاهات ومؤشرات غسل الأموال، وتمويل الإرهاب، وتمويل انتشار التسلح في منطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال إفريقيا، وتنسيق توفير التدريب، وبناء القدرات للدول الأعضاء، بالتعاون مع المنظمات الدولية وغيرها من الجهات المانحة.
ويعد انتخاب دولة قطر شهادة أخرى على ثقة المجتمع الدولي في السلطات الوطنية المعنية بمكافحة غسل الأموال وتمويل الإرهاب.
