Qatar-Turkey Supreme Committee to meet tomorrow

Doha: The fourth meeting of Qatar –Turkey Supreme Strategic Committee is set to be held tomorrow (Monday) in Istanbul, under the chairmanship of Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

H H the Amir will discuss with Turkish President ways to strengthen and develop the strategic partnership between the two countries in various fields, in addition to a number of regional and international issues of common concern, QNA reported yesterday.

The two leaders will meet in Istanbul and will also witness the signing of a number of cooperation agreements and memoranda of understanding between the two countries in various fields.

The high-ranking officials of the Qatar-Turkey Supreme Strategic Committee had held a preparation meeting for the fourth meeting of the Higher Strategic Committee in Ankara on October 5.

The Qatari side was headed by Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs H E Dr Ahmed bin Hassan Al Hammadi, the Turkish side was chaired by Turkey’s Deputy Foreign Minister Sedat Onal.

Representatives from the two countries’ different public and private sectors had attended the meeting which discussed a number of agreements and MoUs that will be signed in the fourth meeting.

The Secretary-General, H E Al Hammadi, had said after the said meeting that the strategic committee has helped sign many agreements and memoranda of understanding in different fields that were being negotiated for years, the last of which was a signing with initials on an economic partnership.

H E Al Hammadi stressed during the meeting the depth of the bilateral relations which he described as continuously developing and witnessing remarkable prosperity at all levels of cooperation.

He added that the exchange of high-level visits from leaders of the two countries and from businessmen and leading figures in the private sector is one of the highlights of the two countries’ ties.

For his part, the Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister lauded the friendship ties the two countries enjoy and highlighted the two countries’ celebration of the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations which have reached unprecedented levels of strength due to the commitment of the leaders and the sense of unity between the two peoples.

Qatar-Turkey Supreme Strategic Committee was established under the leadership of H H the Amir and the Turkish President to act as an important mechanism for strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries in all fields. The supreme strategic committee has held three meetings so far, during which 40 agreements were signed in various fields.
