Katara to host General Assembly of Global Public Diplomacy Network

DOHA: The Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) is all set to host the sixth General Assembly of Global Public Diplomacy Network which will begin tomorrow and will conclude on January 22.
The General Assembly will be chaired by Qatar with the participation of nine countries: Turkey, South Korea, Hungary, Taiwan, Nigeria, Singapore, Mexico, Mozambique and the Philippines.
During a press conference hosted by Katara, Secretary- General of the Global Diplomatic Network, Eng. Darwish Ahmed Al Shaibani, stated that after receiving the presidency of the International Diplomatic Network, Katara worked on preparing a set of important and distinguished international cultural projects that would consolidates the role of the network in transferring knowledge sharing experiences and building bridges of effective dialogue, thereby enhancing the values of tolerance, openness and civilizational coexistence between peoples.
It will enable member states to prepare new generations to assume their responsibilities in the field of social communication, which is established to build strong and prosperous societies that participate in achieving sustainable development.
Al Shaibani noted that the discussions of the meeting will contribute to presenting an ambitious future vision, opening new horizons in joint work and translating them into reality in the near future, pointing out that Katara wanted to pursue a distinct strategy in the electronic side, through establishing an electronic portal that links the members of the network and provides many common services, in a safer and more advanced way, based on many international standards, indicating at the same time that social media is an essential part of this development, in addition to the workshop held by Katara accompanying the launch of the Assembly with the participation of specialized experts.
In turn, Manager of Katara’s Information Technology Department Thamer Al-Qadi highlighted that the General Assembly meeting coincides with Katara’s workshop for young people on social media with participation of specialists, companies heads and international experts in the information technology and modern media sector, explaining that the workshop aims to record this group views in public diplomacy through the modern media in the countries to which they belong.
In addition new website for The Diplomatic Network will also be launched, as part of a pioneering initiative that aims to enable permanent communication between member states of the network, as this network provides a flexible and dynamic mechanism that provides the process of exchanging information and contributes to capacity building and provides all forms of support to the cultural activities of member states.
It is expected that the activities of the day 1 of the 6th General Assembly will begin through a high-level general conference attended by heads of delegations of participating countries, in addition to a group of experts, specialists, academics and university professors, while the activities of day 2 and day 3 include the meeting of the diplomatic network within discussion sessions with the heads of delegations of the participating countries host a round table during which consultations, exchanging ideas and experiences, and discussing a series of topics centered on activating the joint work are discussed.
On the other hand, the 6th General Assembly of Global Public Diplomacy Network hosted by Katara witnesses the submission of requests for new countries to join the network, by submitting their credentials to the general assembly, where it is expected that 8 other countries will join the public international diplomatic network.
It is noteworthy that the State of Qatar obtained its membership in the General Assembly of Global Public Diplomacy Network in 2017 and assumed the presidency from the Turkish Republic on May 4, 2019.
تحتضن المؤسسة العامة للحي الثقافي «كتارا» في الفترة ما بين 20 إلى 22 يناير الحالي، اجتماع الجمعية العمومية السادس للشبكة الدبلوماسية الدولية العامة التي تترأسها دولة قطر عبر «كتارا» بمشاركة دولة قطر و9 دول هي: تركيا، كوريا الجنوبية، هنغاريا، تايوان، نيجيريا، سنغافورة، المكسيك، موزمبيق والفلبين.
وأوضح المهندس درويش أحمد الشيباني، الأمين العام للشبكة الدبلوماسية الدولية ،خلال مؤتمر صحفي احتضنه مؤسسة الحي الثقافي، أن «كتارا» عكفت بعد تسلمها لرئاسة الشبكة الدبلوماسية الدولية على إعداد مجموعة من المشاريع الثقافية الدولية الهامة والمميزة والتي من شأنها أن ترسخ دور الشبكة في نقل المعرفة وتبادل الخبرات وبناء جسور الحوار الفعال، معززة بذلك قيم التسامح والانفتاح والتعايش الحضاري بين الشعوب، وهو ما سيمكن الدول الأعضاء من إعداد الأجيال الجديدة لتحمل مسؤولياتها في مجال التواصل الاجتماعي الذي يؤسس لبناء مجتمعات قوية ومزدهرة تشارك في تحقيق التطور والتنمية المستدامة.
ونوه الشيباني أن نقاشات الاجتماع، ستسهم في تقديم رؤية مستقبلية طموحة، تفتح آفاقا جديدة في العمل المشترك وتترجمها إلى واقع في المستقبل القريب، لافتا إلى أن «كتارا» بعد استلامها لرئاسة الشبكة الدبلوماسية الدولية العامة أرادت أن تنتهج استراتيجية متميزة في الجانب الإلكتروني، من خلال إنشاء بوابة إلكترونية تربط بين أعضاء الشبكة وتقدم العديد من الخدمات المشتركة لهم، بشكل أكثر أمانا وتطورا، معتمدة على العديد من المعايير والمواصفات العالمية، مشيرا في الآن ذاته، إلى أن وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي هي جزء أساسي من هذا التطوير، بالإضافة إلى الورشة التي تقيمها كتارا وتصاحب انطلاق المؤتمر بمشاركة أساتذة وخبراء متخصصين.
بدوره، أبرز السيد ثامر القاضي مدير إدارة تكنولوجيا المعلومات بكتارا، أن اجتماع الجمعية العمومية يتزامن مع تنظيم «كتارا» لورشة عمل موجهة للشباب حول وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي، تنطلق فعالياتها في اليوم الثاني بمشاركة متخصصين ورؤساء شركات وخبراء دوليين في قطاع تكنولوجيا المعلومات والإعلام الحديث، موضحا أن الورشة تهدف إلى إيصال صوت هذه الفئة الاجتماعية الهامة وتسجيل آرائهم في الدبلوماسية العامة من خلال وسائل الإعلام الحديث في البلدان التي ينتمون إليها والتشارك فيما بينهم في تبادل المعرفة والأفكار، بالإضافة إلى تدشين الموقع الإلكتروني الجديد للشبكة الدبلوماسية، وذلك ضمن مبادرة رائدة تهدف إلى تمكين التواصل الدائم بين الدول الأعضاء بالشبكة، حيث تتيح هذه الشبكة آلية مرنة وديناميكية توفر عملية تبادل المعلومات وتسهم في بناء القدرات وتقدم كافة أشكال الدعم للفعاليات الثقافية للدول الأعضاء.
ومن المرتقب أن تبدأ فعاليات اليوم الأول لاجتماع الجمعية العمومية السادس للشبكة الدبلوماسية الدولية العامة من خلال مؤتمر عام رفيع المستوى يحضره رؤساء وفود الدول المشاركة، بالإضافة إلى نخبة من الخبراء والمتخصصين والأكاديميين وأساتذة الجامعات، فيما تشتمل فعاليات اليوم الثاني والثالث على اجتماع الجمعية العمومية السادس للشبكة الدبلوماسية، ضمن جلسات نقاشية تستضيف رؤساء وفود الدول المشاركة حول طاولة مستديرة يتم خلالها التشاور وتبادل الأفكار والتجارب ومناقشة سلسلة من الموضوعات تتمحور حول تفعيل العمل المشترك.
من جهة أخرى، يشهد اجتماع الجمعية العمومية السادس للشبكة الدبلوماسية العامة الذي تستضيفه كتارا، تقديم طلبات انضمام دول جديدة إلى عضوية الشبكة، من خلال تقديم أوراق اعتمادها للجمعية العمومية، حيث من المتوقع أن تنضم إلى الشبكة الدبلوماسية الدولية العامة 8 دول أخرى.
