The world’s first air-conditioned park in Qatar

Doha: Abdul Hakim al-Hashimi, head of public projects at the Public Works Authority (Ashghal), revealed that Umm al-Seneem Park is the first air-conditioned park in the world.

Al-Hashimi said in an interview with Al Rayyan TV that Ashghal is currently implementing three parks in cooperation with the Parks Department of the Ministry of Municipality and Environment: Al-Gharrafa Park, Umm al-Seneem and The Park (Rawdat al-Khail)

He added that the park areas are as follows: Al Gharrafa (within 51,000 meters), Umm al-Seneem (130,000), Rawdat Al-Khail (140,000), pointing out that the green coverage rate is 70% in each park in addition to different parking spaces from 375 to 115 per park.

He explained that the parks have specificity as Umm al-Seneem and Al Gharrafa being the first two air-conditioned parks in the world, and Umm al-Seneem Park has paths on an area of 1150 meters, and is the first project in the world with air-conditioned trails, a walking, running and cycling path.

He pointed out that the idea of the project began since 2009 from the idea of air-conditioning the stadiums of the World Cup and then the idea moved to Katara Street, pointing out that the parks contain places for children from two to four years and from 6 years to 12 years.

There are also children’s sports venues and the park is open with no barriers, weeds are used to decrease temperatures by 10 degrees, and places are separated and hills cover the park from the inside.

الدوحة: كشف المهندس عبدالحكيم الهاشمي رئيس قسم المشاريع العامة في هيئة الأشغال العامة (أشغال) عن أن حديقة أم السنيم أول حديقة مكيفة في العالم .

وقال الهاشمي – في مقابلة مع قناة الريان – تقوم هيئة أشغال حالياً بتنفيذ 3 حدائق بالتعاون مع إدارة الحدائق بوزارة البلدية والبيئة هي: حديقة الغرافة وأم السنيم والمنتزه (روضة الخيل حالياً).

وأضاف أن مساحات الحدائق كالتالي: الغرافة (في حدود 51 ألف متر)، أم السنيم (130 ألفاً)، المنتزه (140 ألفاً)، مشيراً إلى أن نسبة التغطية الخضراء تبلغ 70% في كل حديقة بالاضافة إلى مواقف السيارات مختلفة من 375 إلى 115 في كل واحدة .

وأوضح أن الحدائق لها خصوصية من كون أم السنيم والغرافة أول حديقتين في العالم مكيفتان، حيث إن حديقة أم السنيم بها مسارات على مساحة 1150 متر، وتعد أول مشروع في العالم يحوي مسارات مكيفة، وهي مسار للمشي والجري والدراجات .

وأشار إلى أن فكرة المشروع بدأت منذ العام 2009 من فكرة تكييف ملاعب كأس العالم ثم انتقلت الفكرة إلى شارع كتارا، لافتاً إلى أن الحدائق تحوي أماكن للأطفال من سنتين إلى 4 سنوات ومن 6 سنوات إلى 12 سنة.

كما أن هناك أماكن للرياضات الأطفال الحديقة مفتوحة ليس بها حواجز، وتستخدم الاعشاب فيها لتنزيل درجات الحرارة 10 درجات مئوية ، كما يتم فصل الاماكن والتلال تغطي الحديقة من الداخل.
