New solar-powered rain gauges to measure rainfall in Qatar

Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has tested and purchased 50 solar-powered rain gauges as of its efforts to develop work mechanisms and keep up with latest global meteorology standards.
The instruments, which will help measure the rainfall with high efficiency, will be installed during the coming months in cooperation with government entities such as the Ministry of Municipality and Environment, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, Katara Cultural Village, and others.
Qatar’s CAA has also this year issued a tender for the purchase of 13 modern automatic monitoring stations to be installed at various locations, especially near the stadiums of the FIFA Qatar World Cup 2022 to give access to weather information during the championship matches.
The Meteorology Department deploys latest meteorological forecasting and monitoring systems in line with the future directions of the World Meteorological Organization.
The Department also operates high-precision local numerical forecast models and monitors the movement of clouds, rain and various weather events through advanced remote sensing systems including satellite and radar images available 24/7.
قامت الهيئة العامة للطيران المدني باختبار وشراء 50 جهازاً لقياس كميات الأمطار، تعمل بالطاقة الشمسية، ويأتي ذلك في إطار جهود الهيئة لتطوير آليات العمل ومواكبة المعايير العالمية في مجال الأرصاد الجوية.
وسيتم تركيب الأجهزة التي ستساهم في قياس كميات الأمطار بكفاءة عالية، خلال الفترة المقبلة، بالتعاون مع وزارة البلدية والبيئة، ووزارة التعليم والتعليم العالي، والحي الثقافي (كتارا)، وغيرها من الجهات. والجدير بالذكر أن الهيئة قامت أيضاً هذا العام بطرح مناقصة لشراء 13 محطة رصد أوتوماتيكية متطورة وسيتم تركيبها في مختلف المناطق بالدولة، وخاصة بالقرب من ملاعب كأس العالم 2022، للمساهمة في إعطاء معلومات الطقس لمباريات المونديال.
وتمتلك إدارة الأرصاد الجوية بالهيئة العامة للطيران المدني أحدث أنظمة التنبؤ والرصد الجوي، بما يتواكب مع التوجهات المستقبلية للمنظمة العالمية للأرصاد الجوية، حيث تقوم الإدارة بتشغيل نماذج تنبؤات عددية محلية عالية الدقة، كما تقوم بمراقبة حركة السحب والأمطار ومختلف الظواهر الجوية، عبر أنظمة استشعار عن بعد متقدمة، تشمل صور أقمار اصطناعية، وصور رادار تتوفر على مدار الساعة.
