What examination did Qatar University commit graduates to do?

Doha: Qatar University has announced details of its careful precautionary measures to reduce the spread of Coronavirus during the 2020 graduation ceremonies, which will be held at the Campus Sports and Events Complex at the end of May and during the first week of June.

The University stated that one of the precautionary measures is the need to conduct a RAT examination for all attendees (the day before each ceremony) in a number of buildings designated for examination at Qatar University, what is this examination?

Rapid antigen test

In March, Dr. Inas Al-Kuwari, head of medical laboratories at Hamad Medical Corporation, revealed that the use of the manual rapid antigen testing device used to detect COVID-19 virus for cases with symptoms or infection-like symptoms has begun.

Dr. Inas Al-Kuwari noted that the technique is a quick examination by taking a swab from the nose and then inserting it into the test card after placing drops of a regulatory solution, where the result of the examination appears within 10 minutes to 15 minutes, while the result is evidenced by indicators in the form of a line appearing in the middle of the red tape on the examination device.

الدوحة: أعلنت جامعة قطر عن تفاصيل الإجراءات الاحترازية الدقيقة التي ستطبقها للحد من انتشار فيروس كورونا أثناء تنظيم حفلات تخريج دفعة 2020 والتي سيشهدها مجمع الرياضة والفعاليات في الحرم الجامعي في نهاية شهر مايو الجاري وخلال الأسبوع الأول من شهر يونيو المقبل.

الجامعة ذكرت أن من بين الإجراءات الاحترازية ضرورة إجراء فحص RAT لجميع الحضور (في اليوم الذي يسبق كل حفل) في عدد من المباني المخصصة لإجراء الفحص في جامعة قطر فما هو هذا الفحص؟

فحص المستضدات السريع

في شهر مارس الماضي كشفت الدكتورة إيناس الكواري رئيسة المختبرات الطبية بمؤسسة حمد الطبية، عن البدء في استخدام جهاز فحص المستضدات السريع اليدوي المستخدم في الكشف عن فيروس كورونا “كوفيد-19” للحالات التي لها أعراض الإصابة بالفيروس أو أعراض مشابهة للإصابة.

وعن آلية عمل تقنية المستضدات السريع، أشارت الدكتورة إيناس الكواري، إلى أن التقنية هي عبارة عن فحص سريع يتم عن طريق أخذ مسحة من الأنف ومن ثم إدخالها في بطاقة الاختبار بعد وضع قطرات من محلول منظم، حيث تظهر نتيجة الفحص خلال 10 دقائق إلى 15 دقيقة، بينما يتم الاستدلاء على النتيجة من خلال مؤشرات على شكل خط يظهر في منتصف الشريط باللون الأحمر على جهاز الفحص.
