Calls for enacting a law requiring rejectionists to obtain the Covid vaccine

Doha: With the spread of new mutated coronavirus strains such as Delta and Delta Plus, and the refusal of some eligible individuals to receive the vaccine, some are calling for enacting a law requiring eligible groups to obtain the Coronavirus vaccine as they contribute to the transmission of infection to society.

As part of an opinion poll by Al-Sharq on some doctors, Dr. Abdul Azim Abdul Wahab, medical director and chief surgeon of Al Ahli Hospital, called for the enactment of a law requiring groups eligible for the Coronavirus vaccine to register and obtain it in light of the outbreak of mutated strains of coronavirus Delta and Delta Plus, considering that these groups can contribute to the transmission of infection in the community and return the community to square one of restrictions to reduce coronavirus infection.

“A number of countries, with a high percentage of vaccine recipients, are beginning to ease precautionary measures, and some states in the United States of America are starting to allow vaccine recipients to give up face masks based on the nearly one-year period of vaccine immunity from the effectiveness of vaccine-induced antibodies covering COVID-19 and mutated strains, including Delta, which has become a threat to unvaccinated persons, and have proven their effectiveness in reducing the number of deaths of infected people.

Doctors have called on unvaccinated community members from groups eligible for Covid-19 vaccine so far to register and get the vaccine in order to protect themselves in the first place, and to protect their families and society, especially those at higher risk of associated symptoms when infected with Coronavirus.

The doctors stressed that there is no justification for the concerns of this group about obtaining the anti-virus vaccine, pointing out that these groups should follow the approach method by looking at the percentage of deaths of people who contracted the virus from the vaccinated and the unvaccinated to see the vast difference in the percentages announced by the ministries of public health at the level of the Gulf, Arab and international countries, to show that the death toll of infected people rises among the unvaccinated and not the other way around.

Doctors considered that unvaccinated people are hotbeds for transmission in society, particularly among their families, especially since they might become infected with the virus without any apparent symptoms and would pass it on to groups at risk of complications associated with the virus infection, the elderly, people with chronic diseases, and patients with life-threatening immune diseases that put them on the line.

They added that they are hampering the state’s efforts to reduce and eliminate the spread of the virus, stressing the need to adhere to precautionary measures such as wearing face masks, avoiding crowded indoor spaces, and taking care of physical spacing to control and restrict the epidemic and thus returning to life, such as a number of countries that have reached access to the vaccine to the extent that they have abandoned precautionary measures, particularly dispensing with face masks.

الدوحة: في ظل تفشي سلالات متحورة جديدة لفيروس كورونا مثل دلتا ودلتا بلس، ورفض بعض الأفراد المؤهلين الحصول على اللقاح، يرى البعض بضرورة سن قانون يلزم الفئات المؤهلة بالحصول على لقاح فيروس كورونا كونها تساهم في نقل العدوى للمجتمع.

وفي إطار استطلاع رأي للشرق لبعض الأطباء، نادى الدكتور عبدالعظيم عبدالوهاب – المدير الطبي وكبير جراحي مستشفى الأهلي- بسن قانون يُلزِّم الفئات المؤهلة للحصول على اللقاح المضاد لفيروس كورونا، بالتسجيل والحصول عليه في ظل تفشي سلالات متحورة لفيروس كورونا “دلتا” و”دلتا بلس”، معتبرا أنَّ هذه الفئات بإمكانها أن تسهم في نقل العدوى في المجتمع وإعادة المجتمع إلى المربع الأول من فرض القيود للحد من عدوى فيروس كورونا.

وأوضح الدكتور عبدالعظيم قائلا: “إنَّ عددا من الدول ومع تسجيل نسبة مرتفعة من الحاصلين على اللقاح بدأوا يخففون من الإجراءات الاحترازية، بل بعض الولايات في الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية بدأت تسمح للحاصلين على جرعتي اللقاح بالتخلي عن “الكمامة” لاستنادها إلى فترة الحصانة التي تمنحها اللقاحات والتي تناهز العام من فعالية الأجسام المضادة الناتجة عن اللقاحات والتي تغطي فيروس كورونا “كوفيد – 19” والسلالات المتحورة بما فيها “دلتا” التي باتت تشكل خطرا على الأشخاص غير المطعمين، بل أثبتت فعاليتها في خفض عدد الوفيات من المصابين”.

ودعا أطباء أفراد المجتمع من الفئات المؤهلة للحصول على اللقاح المضاد لفيروس كورونا “كوفيد – 19” من غير المطعمين حتى الآن للتسجيل والحصول على اللقاح بهدف حماية أنفسهم في المقام الأول، وحماية أسرهم والمجتمع وخاصة الفئات الأكثر عرضة لخطر الأعراض المصاحبة عند الإصابة بكورونا.

وأكد الأطباء أنه لا مبرر للمخاوف التي تعتري هذه الفئة جرَّاء الحصول على اللقاح المضاد للفيروس، لافتين إلى أنَّ على هذه الفئات أن تتبع أسلوب المقاربة من خلال الإطلاع على نسبة الوفيات من الذين أصيبوا بالفيروس من المطعمين ومن غير المطعمين ليلمسوا الفرق الشاسع في النسب التي تعلنها وزارات الصحة العامة على مستوى الدول الخليجية والعربية والعالمية، ليتضح أنَّ أعداد الوفيات للمصابين ترتفع عند غير المطعمين وليس العكس.

واعتبر الأطباء أنَّ الأشخاص من غير الحاصلين على اللقَاح يشكلون بؤرا في المجتمع لنقل العدوى لاسيما في أوساط أسرهم، سيما وأنَّ هؤلاء قد يصابون بالفيروس دونما أية أعراض بادية عليهم فينقلونه للفئات المعرضة لخطر المضاعفات المصاحبة للإصابة بالفيروس من كبار السن وذوي الأمراض المزمنة، ومرضى الأمراض المناعية مما يهدد حياتهم ويجعلها على المحك.

وأضافوا أنهم يعوقون جهود الدولة في الحد من انتشار الفيروس والقضاء عليه، مشددين على ضرورة الالتزام بالإجراءات الاحترازية من استخدام أقنعة الوجه الواقية “الكمامة”، وتجنب الأماكن المغلقة المزدحمة، والحرص على التباعد الجسدي للسيطرة على الوباء وتقييده وبالتالي عودة الحياة إلى سابق عهدها مثل عدد من الدول التي بلغت نسب الحصول على اللقاح للحد الذي تخلَّت فيه عن الإجراءات الاحترازية، لاسيما الاستغناء على “الكمامة”.
