Qatar Committee funds employment of 100 medics in Gaza to combat COVID-19

Chairman of the Qatar Committee for the Reconstruction of Gaza, H E Ambassador Mohammed Al Emadi announced that the Committee, in cooperation and coordination with Qatar Fund for Development, will finance the employment of 100 medical personnel including doctors and nurses in the Gaza Strip as temporary employment for six months, to cover the shortfall experienced by hospitals and health centers in the Strip to address the outbreak of Coronavirus (COVID-19).
H E Ambassador Al Emadi said that the process of employing medical personnel including doctors and nurses in the Strip will be carried out in cooperation with the relevant government agencies, headed by the Palestinian Ministry of Health. His Excellency pointed out that the project, which aims to support the Ministry of Health crews in the Strip, comes within the grant of Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to the Gaza Strip, at a value of $150m.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health had launched a distress call to the international community to provide health requirements to tackle the novel Coronavirus, explaining that Gaza medical teams are currently working with limited resources and capabilities and in need of urgent support and help.

أعلن السفير محمد العمادي، رئيس اللجنة القطرية لإعادة إعمار غزة، أن اللجنة القطرية وبالتعاون والتنسيق مع صندوق قطر للتنمية، ستمول تشغيل 100 كادر طبي من الأطباء والممرضين في قطاع غزة على بند التشغيل المؤقت ولمدة ستة أشهر، لسد العجز الذي تعانيه المشافي والمراكز الصحية في القطاع لمواجهة تفشي فيروس كورونا المستجد /كوفيد – 19/.
وأوضح السفير العمادي أن عملية تشغيل الكوادر الطبية من الأطباء والممرضين في القطاع ستتم بالتعاون مع الجهات الحكومية المختصة وعلى رأسها وزارة الصحة الفلسطينية.
وأشار سعادته إلى أن هذا المشروع الذي يهدف إلى إسناد طواقم وزارة الصحة في القطاع، يأتي ضمن منحة حضرة صاحب السمو الشيخ تميم بن حمد آل ثاني أمير البلاد المفدى لقطاع غزة بقيمة 150 مليون دولار.
وكانت وزارة الصحة الفلسطينية قد أطلقت نداء استغاثة للمجتمع الدولي لتوفير المتطلبات الصحية لمواجهة فيروس /كورونا/ المستجد، موضحة أن طواقم غزة الطبية تعمل حاليا بموارد وإمكانيات محدودة وبحاجة إلى الدعم والإسناد بشكل عاجل.
