Minister of Municipality Opens Rawdat Al Khail Park

Doha: HE Minister of Municipality Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie opened Sunday Rawdat Al Khail Park located in Al-Muntazah area, in the presence of HE Mayor of Wilmington in the US State of Delaware Michael Purzycki and his accompanying delegation, currently visiting the country.

HE the Minister of Municipality and the Mayor of Wilmington participated in planting the friendship tree between the City of Doha and the City of Wilmington, in an expression of the two countries’ desire to promote relations of friendship and cooperation in various areas of joint interest.

Assistant Undersecretary for Municipal Affairs at the Ministry of Municipality Mansour Abdullah Al Mahmoud said that the opening of the Rawdat Al Khail Park comes within the framework of the great interest that the Ministry of Municipality attaches to the establishment and development of public parks in various areas in all municipalities, to be a healthy, recreational and tourist outlet for families; noting that the park is one of the oldest parks in Qatar and has had a distinguished position among citizens and residents for decades.

For his part, Director of the Public Parks Department Eng. Mohammad Ali Al Khoury explained that Rawdat Al Khail Park is one of the central parks that serve many areas due to its large area of 140,000 square meters, making it one of the largest parks in the country. The park includes Many recreational and sports facilities which make it a healthy and environmental outlet for the residents.

He added that the park includes a pedestrian path of 1,183 meters, a running track of 1,119 meters, and another for bicycles with a length of 1,118 meters, in addition to green areas covering 98,000 square meters, and 1,600 trees, which contributes to making the park an aesthetic and attractive destination in the area. The park also includes areas for exercise equipped with fitness equipment, and two play areas for children divided by age groups from 2 – 5 years and from 6 years to 12 years, taking into account children with special needs.

He noted that the park includes 40 bicycle stands, 7 restaurant kiosks, 137 lighting poles, and 8 barbecue places, in addition to providing locally manufactured seating and a bike path.

He praised the efforts made by the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) and the Supervisory Committee for Beautification of Roads and Public Places to establish parks that keep pace with global development and contribute to changing the lives of individuals and encouraging them to follow a healthy lifestyle.

Rawdat Al Khail Park is one of the oldest parks in Doha and includes perennial trees that constitute an environmental and cultural heritage.

The State of Qatar is making great efforts to increase the green area and plant trees, including the launch of the initiative to plant one million trees, as part of Qatar’s support for international efforts to enhance environmental sustainability and confront climate change, and in order to provide a healthy green environment for all members of Qatari society.

الدوحة: افتتح سعادة الدكتور عبدالله بن عبدالعزيز بن تركي السبيعي وزير البلدية يوم أمس، حديقة روضة الخيل بمنطقة المنتزه، وذلك بحضور سعادة السيد مايك بورزيكي عمدة مدينة ويلمنغتون بولاية ديلاوير في الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية، والوفد المرافق له الذي يزور البلاد حاليا.

وشارك سعادة وزير البلدية عمدة مدينة ويلمنغتون الأمريكية في زراعة شجرة الصداقة بين مدينة الدوحة ومدينة ويلمنغتون، تعبيرا عن رغبة المدينتين في تنمية وتعزيز الصداقة والتعاون بينهما في مختلف المجالات المشتركة.

وأكد السيد منصور عبدالله آل محمود وكيل الوزارة المساعد لشؤون البلديات بوزارة البلدية أن افتتاح حديقة روضة الخيل يأتي في إطار الاهتمام الكبير الذي توليه وزارة البلدية لإنشاء وتطوير الحدائق والمتنزهات العامة في مختلف المناطق بجميع البلديات، لتكون متنفساً صحيا وترفيهيا وسياحيا للعائلات، مشيرا إلى أن الحديقة تعد من أقدم الحدائق في قطر ولها مكانة مميزة لدى المواطنين والمقيمين منذ عشرات السنين.

من جانبه ، أوضح المهندس محمد علي الخوري مدير إدارة الحدائق العامة أن حديقة روضة الخيل واحدة من الحدائق المركزية التي تخدم العديد من المناطق القريبة من موقعها، نظراً لكبر مساحتها التي تبلغ 140 ألف متر مربع، ما يجعلها واحدة من أكبر الحدائق بالدولة، كما تحتوي على العديد من المرافق الترفيهية والرياضية المحببة للزوار والتي تجعلها متنفساً صحياً وبيئياً للسكان.

وأضاف أن الحديقة تضم مسارا للمشاة بطول 1,183 مترا، ومسارا للجري بطول 1,119 مترا، وآخر للدراجات الهوائية بطول 1,118 مترا ومسطحات خضراء على مساحة 98 ألف متر مربع، و1,600 شجرة، مما يساهم في جعل الحديقة وجهة جمالية وجذابة بالمنطقة، بالإضافة إلى مناطق للتمرين تم تجهيزها بمعدات اللياقة البدنية، ومنطقتي ألعاب للأطفال مقسمة حسب الفئات العمرية من 2 – 5 سنوات ومن 6 سنوات إلى 12 سنة، مع الأخذ بعين الاعتبار الأطفال من ذوي الاحتياجات الخاصة.

وتابع أن الحديقة بها 40 موقفا للدراجات الهوائية، و7 أكشاك للمطاعم، و137 عمود إنارة، و8 أماكن للشواء، فضلاً عن توفير مقاعد للجلوس مُصنَّعة محليًا ومسار للدراجات.

وأشاد بالجهود التي تبذلها هيئة الأشغال العامة “أشغال” ولجنة الإشراف على تجميل الطرق والأماكن العامة بالدولة لإنشاء حدائق تواكب التطور العالمي وتساهم بدورها في تغيير حياة الأفراد وتشجيعهم على اتباع نمط حياة صحي.

وتعتبر حديقة روضة الخيل من أقدم الحدائق بالدوحة وتضم أشجاراً مُعمرة تشكل إرثا بيئيا وحضاريا، كما تخدم الحديقة سكان العديد من المناطق مثل المنتزه، مشيرب، فريج عبد العزيز، السد، النصر، السودان، النجمة، المنصورة، الهلال، المطار القديم، السلطة الجديدة، نعيجة، فريج العسيري، أم غويلينة، فريج العلي، الدوحة الجديدة وبن محمود.

وتبذل دولة قطر جهودا كبيرة في زيادة الرقعة الخضراء وزراعة الأشجار، ومن بينها إطلاق مبادرة زراعة مليون شجرة، في إطار دعم قطر للجهود الدولية لتعزيز الاستدامة البيئية ومواجهة التغير المناخي، ومن أجل توفير بيئة صحية خضراء لكل أفراد المجتمع القطري .
